    This project has enabled us to have secure storage containers for our classroom manipulatives, toys, learning materials, and more! The project has also enabled me to keep items organized and ready to go when needed - which is extremely handy when changing out classroom activities and centers! Now all I need to do is grab the items needed for learning and then store them away again when we move on to different learning units!

  • A Washing Machine to Keep Clothes Clean!

    Thank you so much for donating to this project and supporting our school community! This project has made a huge impact school-wide! We are able to quickly wash clothing when there are accidents, classrooms are able to wash blankets for nap, and our special education room is able to wash their sensory items to make sure they are clean and sanitized for use!

    The biggest impact has been for our school's family-community specialist. She is able to receive donated clothing and immediately wash/dry the items and store them in our school's clothing room. When students and families are in need of uniforms, she's able to provide them with clean clothes to keep! She also is able to continue to keep clean clothes for students to use when accidents happen and the student does not have spare clothes of their own to change into.

  • Keeping Our Things Sanitized and Clean

    Thank you so much for donating to this project and supporting our classroom and learning environment! We have put this project into great use! Each student has their own water bottle in the room and we are able to regularly sanitize them to keep everyone hydrated, clean, and healthy!

    We also have used the washer to sanitize popular toys that are used - and has made this past flu season much more bearable than school years in the past since we are able to safely steam and sanitize items in addition to our usual routines of hand washing etc.

We have used the giftcards from this project to create new dramatic play areas (to keep the center new and give students new imaginative play experiences!), new learning tubs for morning centers, new math and reading games for our afternoon centers.   • Calming Tools When We Lose Our Cool

    Thank you for your contributions to this project and donating to our classroom! We have been having a wonderful time starting off the year learning different techniques to regulate our emotions and our bodies by using the tools throughout the classroom that were included in this project!

    Our calming corner is now well equipped with blankets, soft seating, fidgets, weighted stuffies, breathing boards, and other items to use when we're upset and need to calm our selves and our bodies down to get calm and ready to learn again.”

Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher I try to instill the importance of communicating/listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aid them in their social-emotional development. My students have various learning styles, backgrounds and needs. Due to being located in an inner-city, funding is extremely hard to come by, and in order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out of pocket or by any means I can - which is where DonorsChoose comes in.
