Capturing Memories

Funded Jan 6, 2023

Earlier this school year (in early September), two of our Canon Rebel cameras were stolen from our classroom. I discovered them missing upon attempting to share the cameras and their functions and features with the class in a Photography lesson. We filed a report to the school and decided to submit a Donors Choose project, which was fully funded a few months ago. While waiting patiently for funding, the school purchased a camera and I brought in my own personal camera to capture our school events and activities.

On behalf of my Yearbook elective students, I would like to express my gratitude for your generosity. The students were able to learn about photography basics, as well as about advanced features and functions of a camera. Students were able to experience taking pictures with a real DSLR (not a mobile phone) and enjoyed the feel and power of this type of camera. Some of the students took risks with camera features by practicing the use of taking action, black and white, and portrait-style photos. Students were given the opportunity to edit, upload, and enhance the photos as well. My students took pleasure and pride in handling the camera while taking photos, and were so excited to have the donated camera for extra and more coverage for the school's yearbook!

The digital pictures were then uploaded into the yearbook online platform, where the students created templates and placed photos and typed captions. It was thrilling to observe their motivation and excitement participating in that learning process, and would not have been possible without your generosity.

Words alone cannot express our gratitude for your donation to our school. Not only has this camera helped the Yearbook class this year, but will keep giving our future Yearbook students learning and photo opportunities! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Badar
