Organizing Our Thoughts

Funded Aug 22, 2014

My students were overwhelmed with gratitude that complete strangers were willing to donate so many supplies to them. I believe this donation was a reminder to them that there are still good and generous people in the world who are willing to sacrifice for those who are not as fortunate as some. A reminder they unfortunately do not always have the pleasure of receiving.

With the loose-leaf paper and pencils that you donated, my students are able to work on their literacy skills by practicing their writing, developing skills that they can use for a lifetime. Many of my students are living under the poverty line and cannot afford simple school supplies to help them complete their school work. The books you supplied us allow my students to develop their reading comprehension levels, as most of my students are reading far below their grade level. Because we do not have a library at our school, it is so incredibly helpful that donors like you give my students the chance to get their hands on some books.

The students at our school often feel forgotten and like no one cares; they face unbelievable obstacles that inhibit them from competing with students from other neighborhoods and schools. Your generosity has not only helped my students develop the skills they need to be successful in their futures, but has also increased my students' self-esteem and confidence. They desperately need to feel like they have support in this world, because they often lack support from their own families.

Again, I cannot thank you enough for the contribution you have made to our classroom. My students and I will never forget the impact and love we've felt.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Taylor
