  • Hand Puppets Make Stories Come Alive!

    Funded Dec 2, 2023

My students absolutely love the hand puppets and plushies that accompany their read-alouds! The "oohs" and "aahs" are such fun to hear when they see them! Each week they ask me which new characters we'll meeting that day and it's been so fun for me to be able to have a new puppet or plushie to share with them. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity and for giving my students this exciting addition to our reading!

Thank you again from all of us - you have truly helped to make the books "come alive"!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jeffcoat

  • Adventurers Unite: Our First Ever Dungeons & Dragons Club!

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

My students are having so much fun in our Dungeons and Dragons Club! I have really seen them come out of their shells and form wonderful friendships.

I'm truly amazed at how creative they are with their characters and the storylines for the campaigns. It's been super amazing to listen in!

The students are also doing a great job sharing the books and bringing them back and forth each week during club time. Some of these students often have trouble remembering their homework but they always are prepared for DnD! :)

Thank you so much for your generosity!”

  • Playing "Hook-y" With Ms. J!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students are absolutely LOVING the crochet materials! I've heard comments like, "Crocheting is low-key mad fun" and "Now that I know how to do this, I'm going to do it for my whole life"!

My students were so thrilled when they first saw the box of yarn and crochet hooks! They were even more excited when they found out that they could keep their creations!

The Crochet Club was so popular with the students that I opened another one on an alternate day to accommodate more students. Even with the second club, I still have a lengthy waitlist to get into the club!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your very generous donations.”

  • Trauma-Informed Mindfulness Practices for Pandemic Survivors

    Funded Jul 9, 2022

Thank you so much for contributing to my project! The Breathe 4 Change Trauma Informed Yoga Training begins this weekend and I'm so looking forward to learning strategies that will aid my students in their social emotional wellbeing. I've already begun learning some breath work techniques, as well as, some of the history behind yoga practices and am so eager to share this with my students.

One practice in particular that I've learned is Ujjayi breath which is a breathing technique that is used to help one calm their mind by focusing on their breath. At times during the day, we all need a moment to just breathe and calm ourselves and Ujjayi breath is the perfect way to allow for this time.

Thank you so much, again, for your generosity that will benefit all of my current and future students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jeffcoat

  • Chromebooks for Computer Coding in Brooklyn

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Words cannot express how grateful I, and my students, are for your very generous donation of Chromebooks. Thanks to you, my students are able to learn the very useful skill of computer coding. As time moves forward, technology and the knowledge of coding, will only become more important to all students.

The fact that my students have brand new Chromebooks to use has them very excited! Most of the computers in our school are at least a couple of years old so it's thrilling for my students to have brand new technology to use!

I have one student in my coding class who is new to the United States. Being able to use technology is an easy way for him to connect with the other students and to feel included in our class but also in our school as a whole.

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jeffcoat

My students are very eager to learn computer science. They are all very tech-savvy (or are at least on their way to becoming that way!) and absolutely love the coding classes. My school is a campus school that houses two schools in one building. As the librarian, I see all students from grades PreK - 8. I have two coding classes; one for grades 3-5 and one for grades 6-8.
