Tools for Focus, Fluency, and Growth in the Classroom
Funded Jan 1, 2025Thanks to your generous donation, the fluency tools and SEL books have had a meaningful impact on my classroom and my students' growth. The fluency materials gave my students the structure and confidence they needed to become more expressive and accurate readers. For many of my students who struggle with decoding or reading aloud, the timers, trackers, and repeated reading supports created a safe and motivating environment where they could see and celebrate their progress.
The SEL books became a powerful part of our daily routine. We used them during morning meetings and literacy blocks to explore topics like empathy, perseverance, and self-regulation. These stories helped my students open up, share their thoughts and feelings, and connect with one another. Many of my students are navigating challenges both in and out of school, and these books sparked important conversations that built community and trust in our classroom.
Together, these resources made a noticeable difference in my students' academic and emotional growth. They were more engaged, more reflective, and more supportive of each other—and I know that wouldn't have happened without your support.”

Help Us Build Our Classroom Library
Funded Jan 17, 2017I would like to share how having these new books in the classroom as impacted my students. When students walked in to my room and they saw the brand new books in new clean book baskets their eyes lit up. There was a hush that came over the classroom. Students walked by and was hesitant to touch the books but I assured them that it was O.K. and that these books were for them. They were excited and they began opening books and deciding which books they wanted to use for their independent reading that night. I shared that there were donors who helped buy these books for our classroom in order to give them an opportunity to read books on their levels.
With these new books students will learn how to read independently for a longer stretch of time. They will be introduced to a greater selection of high frequency words, multi-syllabic words that will require them to blend and segment in order to say the words. Students will be introduced to a variety of characters, problems and solutions. We just opened the door for students to become life-long readers.”

Promoting Respect In A Civil Society
Funded Jun 8, 2013With these books my students were able to learn about many different cultures. My students learned how many kids their age were interested in many of the same thing, how they shard many of the same experiences even though they were from different cultures.
When you walk in my classroom during independent reading, you will find students on the carpets, crates or at their desk engaged in these books. These books have helped students engage in conversation and they love to discuss how children in these books are similar to them.”

Funded May 23, 2016Donors:
I want to say thank you for all of the new classroom supplies. My students are engaged in every lesson and ready to learn with the handheld whiteboards. Students who are usually hesitant to share their ideas in front of their peers can be readily found writing down their answers on the whiteboard and eager to share them out. This is very helpful for one of my non verbal autistic students in my classroom.
When the supplies came in students asked me did I spend ALL of my hard earned money on them. I had to explain that people are willing to support classrooms in order for them to get the knowledge they need in order to be successful in life. They were in shock and in awe that people who did not know them are willing to open their pockets and their hearts to them. I believe that this is the greatest impact these supplies had on my students.
Currently we are working on our communities unit where we have to create our on communities and students will be using the colored pencils to showcase their art work for the entire school.”

Saving Space With Seat Pockets
Funded Jun 2, 2013Having a well managed and organized classroom is the key to a successful learning environment and the seat pockets lend themselves to organizing my students. My students are special needs and they are often losing materials, notebooks and textbooks. Students place their textbooks in seat pockets which leave extra space inside of their desks. Gone are they days of messy desks with papers falling out.
Students are able to keep their personal supplies in their pockets as well and it has made it neater and much easier to access. It is quick and easy to be prepared for class each day.”

Ease Into Learning with a Whiteboard Easel
Funded May 29, 2013I am pleased to say that the whiteboard easel has transformed learning in my classroom. My students are more engaged in the lessons, they are eager to come to the board an write their answers and they are now able to make their thinking visual. Students take turns sharing their ideas and they are so excited to select a dry erase marker of their choice to write their answers.
There are days that I have come into the classroom and I have been welcomed to loving notes from students and even some staff members. This whiteboard has captured their interest in learning.
I wish you could see their eyes light up when the board rolled in the room. There were a few ooh's and ahh's. I am forever grateful, that I was able to receive this donation and transform the learning in my classroom.”
