Rug Burn? No, it’s Rug Learn!
Funded Mar 23, 2018Our class was thrilled with our new carpet. Our old one was dingy and had sticky tape residue from years of use. The new soothing colors inspired us to relax a little and helped us to fidget a little less. We carefully read the words and the rhymes and used it for a quick review. We had a negotiation about who got to sit on the dog. So far we are working it out not to have assigned spots. When an opened marker fell on the carpet, many helpers chipped in to dab the tiny spot until it was gone. Our class is filled with pride that such a lovely gift arrived in our classroom. We will use it for many years to come. Thank you so much for donating to our class. I am so pleased with my students and their enthusiasm and care they've shown since this rug showed up. Our carpet is an amazing resource, but we are all truly grateful for you and the caring you've shown our classroom. Without a doubt the greatest resource we have is the caring helpers who contributed to our classroom.”

Funded Jan 1, 2018What a wonderful and amazing gift you have given us. Our class is overwhelmed by the generosity and choice we now have in our dress up center. Not only has it become the most popular center, the kids are making up stories, working together, and practicing taking turns. Their imaginations now soar with possibilities.
The math games and manipulatives has added a mid year punch of excitement to repetitive practice tasks they students need to be fluent. I find that students often choose to challenge themselves and often do not want to stop playing. When I ring the bell to change centers, I'm starting to hear a groan that center time is over. As a teacher, having all the pieces to a set and having an easy activity that students can clean up themselves, saves me time and energy so I can put more thought and effort into my small group teaching time. It has lightened my load and I can spend more time on things that need my attention.
Our class loved opening up our huge box. It was like Christmas, pulling each thing out and talking about what we can play. The students were very concerned about being careful and taking good care of these supplies so they would last and everyone could have a turn. It was wonderful to see their excitement and their pleasure in this class gift. Thank you for caring about my students. They are such bright lights and with your help, I get to see them shine.”

Funded Jun 3, 2017Pumpkin Patch day is finally here. The day dawned bitter cold and I was worried that it would take some of the joy away, but the kids rolled with it. Before we left we visited the schools lost and found to borrow a few warmer jackets. Our students were amazed and grateful for the opportunity to visit the orchard. When we got back, we circled up and told each other our favorite parts of the pumpkin patch. The kids shared that they loved jumping in the hay, and running through the hay maze. They loved the horsey swings and the milking cow. The hay ride was the highlight for others and getting to pick their very own pumpkin to take home was thrilling for everyone. I even heard that the bus ride was amazing. It wasn't even their first time on a bus, but the occasion is so rare that it got mentioned which made me laugh. After our exciting day a few kids fell asleep on the bus ride home. This was a really wonderful opportunity to open their eyes to a great big world. We are inspired to explore pumpkins even more over the next week. We will be reading books, roasting pumpkin seeds, making pumpkin pie in a cup and talking about the plants life cycle. We are measuring them and using our senses to write about our trip. The field trip was a joy for our students and I can't thank you enough for your support of our students. I really hope you know that they made a memory and touched some learning that will have a big impact. The idea of a farm isn't just an idea or a picture in a book. They now have a real world experience that allows them to grow their knowledge base. I am so grateful for you and your generous giving that allowed these five classes to have such a joyful fun filled learning experience.”

Funded Feb 22, 2017What fun we have had with these new items. The students were thrilled to work on specific skills in their small groups. Their mastery improved and I was a happy teacher too. We loved being able to work independently, self check and even to show off when visitors came to see our learning. It was an excellent school year partly because of these new materials. They provided novelty on skills that we were tired of practicing the old way. They also gave students a chance to learn hands on through play instead of just filling out another worksheet. Center time was filled with explorers, scientists, designers and active learners. The hot dots especially were a hit. Students were really great at taking turns, helping each other to stay on task and I loved that they allowed some of my higher kids to be challenged. Sometimes as a teacher, it is hard to find stuff for those high flyers that need to be challenged. I'm so grateful for your generosity and kindness to my students. They are thankful too and on behalf of them, I thank you.”

Funded Dec 29, 2016Thank you so much for all the wonderful treasures for our literacy centers. We are learning so much through play and really interacting with the materials. The students were thrilled when the big box came and everyone wanted to play at once. The students hardly notice they were reinforcing skills and getting extra practice in. It makes my teacher heart happy to see all my students so engaged and excited about learning. The best thing is these materials will last for years through class after class. It makes center time the most prized hour of the day for my little learners and allows me to target specific skills. I'm always amazed at the rapid progress I see when some new way of doing a skill clicks with a student. You can see light bulbs going on all over my room when something is presented in new way. It is such a pleasure for me to see such progress. Please know that these toys have made a big impact in the learning in my classroom. It's allowed me to be more innovative and keep their attention in a way that I would not be able to without these materials. It makes my job easier and the students job of growing their brains more pleasurable. These small games and manipulative's are key to getting kids excited about school and keeping them there through graduation. It all started with you and your generous donation. Thank you.”

Funded Dec 19, 2016These new supplies have transformed our center time. The students were thrilled to see and explore our new materials. We use them every day and students really look forward to getting their turn at center time. They provide just the right sort of challenge and fun to make center time super engaging. My class is a bevy of activity and they really look forward to using the materials each day. I've seen some skill improvement in sight words and a few kids who were struggling with counting are starting to see some success after working with the Number locks. The Firefighter costume is a hit and we had to have a class wide talk about how girls could be Firefighters and Fire Chiefs too. The cooking items are so realistic that they are putting more effort into their pretend play. I wish you could see the excitement these new items have generated in my class. These aren't kids who have a lot at home to play with so having a classroom that is filled with interesting and special toys makes school a place they want to be. They are on their way to being strong students with excellent work ethics thanks to your kind and generous gift. You've touched our lives and you've graced our classroom with opportunity. It's had a real impact!”

Funded Mar 9, 2016What an amazing and fun time we have had using our new learning tools in our classroom. The Math games reinforce every concept I've taught this year and the self checking feature means that my kinders can be independent and still learning while I am teaching in small groups. The science Magna tiles are the biggest hit. We've had skyscrapers built, bridges and even some fancy symmetrical patterns as the kids explore and create with shapes. The Literacy centers have changed my tired center time where everyone really wanted to go to just a few of the centers to a time where everyone is excited to go to every center. The variety of choices really got my students playing to learn. They take turns, work hard and always have some written work to show me at the end of their center rotation time. I can't thank you enough for the support. It is a luxury to have the materials I need right at my fingertips. I can spend more time planning and more time in the classroom actually teaching. The learning is happening all around my room and it's a pleasure to see my students finding success at each new center. There is no doubt that this gift has helped all of my students to delight in learning and it warms my heart to hear their exclamations of glee at getting something new. When I sat them down to write our thank you notes they really wanted to write about the new toys. I said, "they aren't really toys, they are learning tools." and one of my students piped up with "Can we just call them learning toys?" So we did. And we are grateful for our new learning toys. We are all set to finish our year strong, playing to learn!”

Kindergarteners Can Read
Funded Nov 29, 2015When I think of your generosity, I am blown away. Thank you so much for thinking of my Little's. They needed these supplies to get through our school year. Without them I don't know where our class would be. Our math lessons are 100 percent on the white boards and now they can write and experiment on our carpet circle instead of being stuck in their desks. They use the alphabet pocket chart daily. The numbers to 100 chart we use to count daily. The goals these kids have to count and read are being met because of this donation. I'm the lucky one because I get to see the connections these children make because of having adequate supplies in my classroom. I am blessed to have known you, Mr B and I know you are missed so much.”

STEM and Literacy - Kinder Scientists!
Funded Oct 7, 2015These stem project items have had a huge impact on my students. The materials are such high quality, they are standing up to little hands and the students have already grown and developed much more intricate structures then I could have imagined. This play to learn is a joy to watch and as their teacher I'm so grateful to be part of these classroom activities.
When the supplies arrived, I was giddy at the thought of rolling them out. When they appeared the class was equally wowed. They often request these centers and I've noticed that they also work together beautifully helping each other to problem solve and design.
These supplies have influenced my students to ask more questions and then research and find more answers.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is such a blessing to have meaningful, age appropriate, and high interest supplies in our classroom. My students are learning and that is because of YOU and your contribution. Thank you so much.”

Funded Sep 4, 2015It was a very exciting day when our packages arrived. It's kind of fanciful when a dream of much needed supplies actually becomes a reality. We got our packages and things in our room changed for the better. Instead of scrambling on our morning routine, our white board was right there for morning message. The students are eager to read our rotation chart that hangs from the back. The teacher table is so easy to prep with our ABC tubs and they love the hands on activities that came for them. It's such an honor to get funded and to be able to tailor my instruction to my individual students.
The students themselves have really enjoyed working together with the center activities. They are careful with the supplies. I have been so pleased to see them working together and really engaged in their learning. I can make supplies all day long, but actual manipulatives beat pictures laminated on paper any day.
I feel inadequate expressing our thanks because the impact for my students was powerful. It lifts my spirits to be able to reach for a needed supply and have it right there and handy. It has streamlined my days and smoothed out some difficult transition times. I am grateful to each of you for your contribution to my classroom and my sweet Kinders.”
