Recess Rulez!
Funded Jun 7, 2024It has been so much fun watching students play with the new recess equipment - not just from my own classroom, but the entire 4th grade. The hula hoops a huge hit because they are something new, so everyone tries to race to get them.
The kickball and soccer balls are always chosen from the recess bucket as well. It is very nice to have equipment that gets kids moving and being active. The boys are especially fond of soccer and are now asking if we could get soccer goals for the field.
Your donation made this project possible and has created a lot of happy kids. Thank you so much!”

Make Math a Blast!
Funded Nov 26, 2023Math class has become much more fun with these games. Not only are students building their math skills, but they are also increasing their conversation skills. My students love having the opportunity to play learning games once they have finished their assignments and I am finding a huge increase in math scores because they are reviewing basic skills with game play.
Math games are now a part of our daily math menu options and my students are even choosing to play math games on those days that we have to stay indoors for recess because of rain. Your donations to this project have made a lot of happy children and one happy Teacher. Thank you so much!”

24 Challenge
Funded Nov 9, 2023My students are thrilled to have 24 Challenge cards. It is their favorite go-to game as soon as they finish their math work. Several of my boys have even been inspired to join the 24 Club at school and are going to be competing in a tournament at school.
Many students are improving their math skills and reasoning because of this game. We discussed all the ways to make the number 24 using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Even my lower academic students are showing great gains by playing.
Thank you so much for making this project happen.”

Funded Apr 12, 2023Students had a great time creating their board games for the end of the year Virginia Studies review. I was very impressed by the amount of information they remembered. Students worked in groups of 3 to 5, some creating a Jeopardy type game, while others did Sorry. All games incorporated questions from each unit.
Many of the game pieces will be able to be used again next year when we try this project again. There are some improvements we need to make with the assignment, but overall it was a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed it.”

Math is Puzzling
Funded Mar 28, 2023I ordered the games on TPT with the funding from this project. I had them laminated for students to play during math center time. I hope you can tell from the pictures how much fun the kids were having. I am now the best teacher ever because the kids had so much fun learning math.
We just finished a decimals unit and testing scores were definitely better due to the time my students spent playing these games. I am so glad to have them for all units now. I wanted to make learning more fun and relevant and my goal was achieved with your help. Thank you so much!”

Full STEAM ahead!
Funded Dec 29, 2022We had an unboxing of the new STEAM materials today at school. There was a ramp and ball set, magna tiles and two other magnetic building sets. Today was the perfect day for these materials to come because we had VGA testing, a mixed up schedule and indoor recess so the kids were already anxious.
My classroom was the happiest place on Earth this afternoon. All of the kids were involved in building and designing. One group was busy trying to make wooden balls roll all the way across the classroom on ramps. Another group was building houses and rockets. There was exploring with magnets and construction of 3D geometric shapes. The room was full of great conversation and amazing ideas.
Thank you so much for making today possible. I look forward to many more days of building.”

Funded Apr 25, 2022Your generosity gave me the materials I needed to give my brand new classroom a much needed update. I moved to a new school this year and started with a blank slate. The project provided me with classroom decor, storage bins and some super cool passports for students. Not only have I received many compliments from colleagues and parents, but my students love this learning environment.
I just printed pictures to add to students passports and they are so excited to read books from all around the world and by multicultural authors so they can earn stamps. The travel theme has students motivated to learn more about the world. Thank you for helping me create that spark.”

Nonfiction Update Needed
Funded Sep 23, 2021These books arrived at just the right time. We began our nonfiction unit a couple of weeks ago and my students are loving these new titles. It is great to see that the books are rarely back on the bookshelf.
The Who is and What was books have become favorites for several of my students and they are quickly reading through the whole series. I love the spark of curiosity that is created by each book. Some students have started searching for more information online based on what they have read in the book. One student has a new obsession with Jackie Robinson. It is awesome!”

Funded May 4, 2021My students were so excited to get new LEGOs to add to our classroom set that they couldn't stand seeing them sit on my desk for a day so that I could get them out of the plastic and into the containers. They agreed to work quietly on an assignment so that I could get them organized into our bins and ready for them to use.
One of the first things we did was create a scene for what they would like to do over summer vacation. With the addition of new LEGO people, food, wheels and outdoor scenery, their creations were amazing. I loved listening to all of the fun things they wanted to do over vacation.
Next school year, I am looking forward to using these LEGOs with my reading groups so they can recreate elements of the story and even do some creative writing after making their own LEGO structures. Thank you so much for making this a possibility.”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Hands on fraction tiles are the best tool I have for teaching students fractions. We have a huge fractions unit in 4th grade and concepts like equivalent fractions can be difficult for students to understand. With the fraction tiles, they can actually see what is going on. They use the tiles to compare, find equivalencies, add and subtract and build knowledge of fractions.
These little fraction tile kits have been a life-saver this year because they are able to be sent home to students who are learning virtually as well as be used by students who are just now returning to the school building. They are colorful and the kids love to play with them (even though they are really learning).
Thank you so much for your donation and helping my class get the learning tools they need.”
