  • Planting Seeds of Change - Learning About Plants

    Funded Apr 23, 2023

Our school is located in an urban neighborhood with limited opportunities to garden and watch plants grow. This project provided an interactive and collaborative experience for my students.

Thank you for your support in funding this incredible project in which my students had the incredible opportunity to explore science topics by way of growing herbs from seeds and watching the plant life cycle.

We were able to keep "see and grow" journals as we observed and investigated the process. At the end of the school year, Students were even able to take the herbs home to their families to share. The students greatly enjoyed this experience and are still talking about it!

This project would not have been possible without your support. Thanks you for investing in out future!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ohannessian

  • Audio Books for Low-Income Special Needs Scholars

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

Words cannot express our gratitude for funding this incredible project! These resources have enabled access to literature that my students would not have had and opened doors to other worlds via literature.

My students jump out of their seats in excitement when they see the audiobooks come out and their faces light up! As they are engaged in the audiobooks/read aloud, they are fully emersed in multisensory instruction and being exposed to new things in a fun, and exciting manner.

The impact of this project will live on through my students for a lifetime. This project would not have been possible without YOU. Thank you for investing in our future!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ohannessian

    Funded Jan 27, 2023

With our deepest gratitude, we thank you so much for contributing to our class project and the purchase of social/emotional learning materials. We have been able to use these materials to assist in identifying and regulating our emotions which as had such an incredible, positive impact on our well-being and academics. We have even shared our books with other students in a "book buddy" reading program to assist others and turn-key what we have learned. The lessons learned, will impact us for the rest of our academic careers and lives, as we now how awareness of how important our mental health is. We have been able to use these resources to reference our needs and strengths and highlight those attributes in others.

Thank you for the investment in our education and future. You have changed our lives for the better.”

    Mrs. Ohannessian

  • Lunar New Year Tranquil/Calming Corner for Special Needs Kindergarteners

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

I can't thank you enough for your generous contribution to our class project.

My students loved learning about and celebrating the Lunar New Year. We celebrated by reading informative books in our calm/reflective corner, making and giving red envelopes to fellow classmates (with kind words inside), and shared the experience with other classes! Learning about the Chinese culture has sparked my students curiosity and left them wanting to know more. I have seized this teachable moment, and taught an entire Social Studies unit on China and their amazing culture. They enjoyed every moment.

These experience would not have been possible with you and we thank you for your investment in our education and our future. You are truly amazing!”

    With gratitude,

  • Audiobooks for Special Needs Kindergarteners

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

Words simply cannot describe the gratitude we share for the completion and funding of this incredible project! With the funds, an audiobook technology device, called a TonieBox was purchased along with the corresponding "tonies" or Wifi based books in the form on characters which are placed on top and signal it to play. This device has changed the way my students view literature and learn.

Unsure of the device itself, my students were initially intimidated but, when showed the ease of use and the amazing things it does, they were SO EXCITED to use it. They use it every day in their independent reading centers. This resource is loved so dearly by my students that it quickly tuned into a reward for "positive behavior" and "choice time" - can you imagine - students being motivated by a reward of literature!? It is incredible.

One of the stories that the children love to hear is "Matilda" by Roald Dahl. It has turned into a class favorite and prompted us to read it, in print as a whole group/class. They are deeply invested and engaged in learning because literature has been brought to life. The majority of my scholars are unable to read at grade level and with this device, they need not feel self-conscious of their skills but simply enjoy listening to a book while being fully immersed in the experience. We plan to continue reading books in print inspired by the audiobooks.

Thank you for investing in our future! YOU are amazing!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ohannessian
