  • Access and Conquer!

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you a million times over for your donations! I don't just see books as something to read and write a response on; I see it as a key to success in life. That is a lesson I taught my kids throughout the entire school year.

I had students entering the year absolutely dreading opening a book. These decodable books that allow my students to actually learn to read has changed how they feel about reading. In our classroom, we explore reading through read-alouds, independent reading time once a day for 15-20 minutes, and reading across all subjects. Through this, reading is already becoming habitual for my students. This would not have happened if it wasn't for your generosity.

Thank you again for contributing to not only my classroom, but the success of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hennessy

  • Summer Readers, Future Leaders!

    Funded Jun 5, 2024

Thank you a million times over for your donations! I don't just see books as something to read and write a response on; I see it as a key to success in life. That is a lesson I taught my kids throughout the entire school year.

I had students entering the year absolutely dreading opening a book. By the end of the school year, these same students couldn't wait to read their new books and bring them home to show their families. In our classroom, we explored reading through read-alouds, independent reading time once a day for 15-20 minutes, and reading across all subjects. Through this, reading has become habitual for my students and I'd like to think that that was one of my greatest accomplishments that year.

Most of my students come from low-income households where they cannot afford to purchase books or where parents work such long hours that they don't have time to read to their children. Giving them the gift of a book to have over the summer helped these families start something new and see the growth in their children.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hennessy

  • Making My Classroom Colorful One Sheet at a Time!

    Funded Sep 13, 2023

Words can't describe how grateful I am for your donations! Technology has become imperative for student learning and is truly a powerful tool.

My students have been able to create projects, art pieces, writing pieces, and stories on their devices and then see them come to life on paper. Their reactions towards seeing their work on paper in front of them is truly beautiful. The majority of my students do not have access to this kind of technology at home so for them to be able to use it in school is so special.

Thank you again for your generous donations towards not only my classroom, but the success of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hennessy

  • Flexing Our Critical Thinking Skills With Flexible Seating!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations towards my project! As described on the project page, flexible seating is extremely beneficial for students with disabilities. I have multiple students with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder and the wobbly stools have been helpful in keeping them focused and on task throughout the school day. Furthermore, it has made them feel more comfortable and safe in the classroom environment which is every teachers goal.

My students LOVE the gray foldable chairs. We use them every day during partner work and independent reading. It provides the students with a change in location (they sit in a different location in the classroom) and the cushions give them comfort enhancing their ability to focus and remain on task.

We continue to use the flexible seating arrangements daily and this would not be possible without each and every one of you! Myself and my students are incredibly grateful for your contributions.”

  • SEL Perseverance!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Words can't describe how grateful I am for each and every one of you! The materials donated to my classroom have been put to such good use. All of the fidget toys are used DAILY-they help my students with special needs stay on track with their work while being able to stim. The "Touch of Feelings" book set is part of a unit we are working on in Social Emotional Learning. Each week, we are studying a different emotion, using these books to guide each lesson. Granting my students the access to these social emotional learning tools has been one of the keys to their success this school year.

My students absolutely love the SEL journal writing. Each week we have different activities to complete that has helped my students understand and express their emotions in ways they have not done before.

    Thanks again for your support!”

    With gratitude,
