Coal, STEM, Osmo...inspire the Next Generation of Mountaineers
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you, again, for your generous donation! The Osmo technology provided through DonorsChoose has provided my thirteen third graders with extended lessons in 21st century skills. My students collaborate, create, think critically, and communicate by using Osmo. I am even able to customize lessons in "My Osmo," and as we all know, teaching a student on his or her level is the most effective way for them to learn.
After polling my class, the most exciting things about Osmo are as follows:
1. It helps us learn to code and make music by coding.
2. It teaches us how to make pizza, how to pay for it, and how to give change.
3. It shows us how a job really works.
4. When we grow up, we will know how to pay the right amount and how much money we should get back.
5. It helps us draw things without even looking at the paper.
6. It makes coding more fun and lets you build code for the different types of characters.
7. It teaches numbers and how to build them.
8. It helps with fluency.
9. It helps us learn how to build words.
This new technology has been a blessing for my entire class, from the low to high-performing students. The lower-performing students are able to stay on activities on their level, and slowly increase their work load. The higher-performing students quickly breeze through the lower-level activities and make it to their instructional level. This keeps all students activity engaged with productive lessons.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hart Mitchell
