  • Community Building in the Classroom

    Funded Jul 8, 2022

I am beyond appreciative to have been given the tools needed in our classroom to further foster community. This donation has allowed me to help transition my 5th grade classroom to be more accomodating for 4th grade students. I was given flexible seating which the kids really have taken a liking to. In addition multiplication fluency facts were administered to every student. Most of my students are multiple grade levels behind, so this donation was crucial to help students master fluency facts. I greatly appreciate all that is done for my students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Inviting Reading Area

    Funded Feb 3, 2022

Students last year were given the opportunity to read books of their choice in the classroom and at home thanks to all of your contributions. These students come from homes where even finding a pencil is scarce let alone books for their reading.

Students were given a voice in which books were selected for our classroom when creating our donors choose page. I fully believe that them having a voice in what they read gets them excited for new material.

Additionally, this funding bought our classs a new rug. It has helped bring a lot of community time in addition to having an inviting reading area.

    Thank you,

    Amanda Haick”

  • Keeping Students Warm

    Funded Nov 28, 2022

My heart literally dropped when I saw this project get funded. Never did I think with the help of community did I think I could make such a difference as a teacher to offer warm jackets to my urban city students this year. I am incredibly grateful the outpouring love of each of you.”

  • Essential Classroom Items

    Funded Oct 25, 2022

These essential items have allowed room 201 to continue learning and progress without extra stressors. With bathroom, hallway, office, and library passes I no longer have to stop instruction to write or sign a pass. Pencils allow equitability among all students to get work done. Puzzles allow students to have free time on Fridays and build upon their logic reasoning skills. The donations and kindness you have shown our classroom doesn't go unnoticed. We appreciate your generosity in making our classroom run smoother.”

  • Feed Oakland's Hungry Youth

    Funded Dec 20, 2021

While this thank you letter is late I cannot express how appreciative my 5th grade class was last year on this donation. Instead of being hungry and shutting down after their morning recess, these kids preservered with a snack and play coming back ready to learn more than ever. Healthy snacks are so important, and all children should have access to food to help brain power and learning.

Each day students got to choose from a variety of snacks so their were options for each child. Children did not go hungry and by having healthy snacks they also were so much better well behavded inthe classroom.”

  • Building the Reading Achievement Gap in Oakland, California!

    Funded Dec 19, 2021

Your generous impack has made a strong difference in my 5th grade classroom. Many of my students have no access to books in their home, and even more so had limited access in our classroom when we all came back to in person learning August 2021. I am a first year teacher, but also a new mom and have not had the means to build up a class library. The classroom I was given was striped nearly of all books. When my fifth graders arrived there was a wide range of reading abilities from kinder all the way to at grade level.

Thank you to the generous donors and the Steph Curry foundation for graciously helping out my students and I. These children have a love for reading and many students have improoved between 1-3 grade levels in reading since the start of 5th grade. I can't help but think this improovement helped thanks to all of you for making a love of reading. We have a new reading rug, bean bags, along with plenty of new books. We sure our greatful!”
