Masked Measure
Funded Sep 29, 2020My colleagues and I are truly grateful for your support in providing our students with a generous supply of masks. We all know how important it is to mask up to protect ourselves and others.
Students who attend school on days we are open are able to receive additional masks to double up with the surgical masks or to replace the cloth ones they have that tend to get moist and uncomfortable.
These masks make our school a safer place, not just for students but also for the staff. I am truly appreciative for your generosity and thankful you enabled me to foster a safer school environment and promote a culture of masking up among students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Granado
This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 10 other donors. My Student's Need To Discover The Color of Water
Funded Jul 6, 2012Thank you very much for making my classroom and teaching much more effective and meaningful through your donation. Students are off to a great start with The Color of Water, which they love and find very interesting. I too am pleased with their level of engagement in reading and analyzing the narrative.
In a couple of weeks, students in all three of my 11th grade classes will begin interviewing a special loved one in preparation for writing their own memoirs, structured as a parallel history much like The Color of Water. These memoirs will provide background and preparation for the personal essays they will write next semester when they begin the college application process.
Our school has been increasing in size, but resources, especially funds for books, have not grown proportionally. Teachers often have to share a single class set of books with more than one class and even with other teachers, making it virtually impossible for students to take books home. However, your generosity has enabled me to allow students to take the books home, giving them a greater sense of responsibility and preparing them more realistically for college.
I am truly grateful to donors like you who make such a meaningful impact on the lives of students and the efficacy of teaching.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Granado
