  • Time for Tea and Literature: Kettle and Tea Needed

    Funded Jan 29, 2025

Thank you so much for funding this project, "Time for Tea and Literature!"

My students have absolutely loved having a cup of tea or hot cocoa while we read, especially on chilly mornings. On mornings when we enjoyed our tea, students said this was why they loved coming to class—it was welcoming and cozy, and they learned a lot.

Seeing students enjoy reading with their tea or cocoa has been a treat. It has created a sense of community and made students enjoy reading a little more.

Thank you again for your continued support! It really does make a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gionti

  • Let's Build: LEGOs Needed for Calming STEM Activities

    Funded Mar 21, 2025

Wow! Thank you so much for funding this project! Just this week, my students asked if there were any more LEGOs to build. They will be so happy on Monday when I tell them this project was funded and that more LEGOs are coming!

Thank you again for your support! I look forward to sharing pictures and an update with you later this Spring!”

  • Hands-On: Art Supplies Needed

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project!

Students in my new Mixed-Media art class have loved using the supplies to make their creations. We recently finished a project using the tempra paint sticks funded to create hearts inspired by Brazilian artist Romero Britto. Being able to paint in class without making a mess was a great bonus to the fun students had with these supplies. We also are in the midst of working on a project inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's Concentric Circles, but using hearts instead. Watching students choose their colors and arrange the pieces of paper just so has been such a joy.

Thanks to your support, students could be creative, have fun, and destress. Thank you again!”

Wow! What amazing news! Thank you so much for funding this project! I cannot wait to have a new desk and stools for students to use. The cleaning supplies and tissues will also help keep germs away and provide students with some comfort.

Thank you again for your amazing support!”

  • Teaching Racial Justice With The Nickel Boys: Books Needed

    Funded Dec 29, 2024

Thank you so much for donating copies of The Nickel Boys to our classroom. Your support means so much—not only because you've provided books but because you've given my students access to a novel that sheds light on an important yet often overlooked part of American history.

My students loved Elwood and Turner, the novel's main characters, and their friendship. The powerful ending (no spoiler alerts if you haven't read the book!) left students with a lot to say about justice and hope.

Students were also surprised to learn that The Nickel Boys is based on the real-life Dozier School for Boys. They were fascinated (and outraged) when they learned that the abuse and corruption described in the book actually happened.

Now that we've read the novel, we plan to watch the movie together in class and make comparisons. Thank you again for your continued support! It really does make a difference!”

  • Let's Build Part II: LEGO Needed for STEM Activities

    Funded Dec 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your support in funding Legos for my classroom! Seeing my students fully engaged—collaborating, problem-solving, and creating—has been an absolute joy.

As you can see from the pictures, students locked in while building - using any space possible (even the floor) to sort bricks and create sections. They worked diligently, coming in during their lunch period and before or after school to continue building the R2-D2 (I never realized how much my students LOVE Star Wars!).

Your generosity has made a real impact, and I'm truly grateful!”

The majority of my students qualify for the free-reduced lunch program and getting them to provide even the most basic of school supplies for themselves is challenging. The few students who do have access to technology, barely know how to conduct a Google search or how to use spell check in Microsoft Word. It is sad that for some students, double spacing an essay means hitting the space bar twice after each word.
