  • Fired Up for Kindles

    Funded Aug 2, 2018

Thank you for your generous donations. The students and I have had a great time investigating different applications for our new Kindle tablets. The students are engaged and enjoy time to work on a variety of skills using our Kindles. Some of our favorite games include ones focused on multiplication facts and word games. Learning our facts will help us tackle more complicated math problems in our classroom and using the Kindles help us build a strong foundation. Working with words and breaking them into smaller parts help us tackle unfamiliar words in text so that we can have a better overall comprehension of the story or article. Next we plan on exploring ways to use our Kindles for research projects and was to incorporate animation. We are so fortunate to have your assistance in order to purchase these Kindles. We appreciate your donations. Thank you so much.”

  • Inquisitive Inquirers

    Funded Jan 26, 2014

The day our packages arrived from Donors Choose I was enjoying a lunch bunch with a few of my first grade students. They were ecstatic to see the boxes and of course helped me open the boxes to see our treasure as quick as possible. The kids were thrilled beyond belief.

I use the resources as centers for Science and Social Studies during our extended reading block. First Grade students LOVE center time because they are able to explore and investigate on their own or with a partner. These centers are perfect for my students because they offer high interest topics which makes the students happy and they offer rigorous tasks to be completed which my principal expects for my gifted and high achieving students. I rotate my centers weekly and the new centers that you provided are always the ones they look forward to the most. I normally hear students clapping or saying "YES!" to their peers whenever I introduce the center to them.

These new resources also have been wonderful in assisting me in producing mini researchers. Students will learn about a fascinating animal or interesting bit of history and want to know more. This is exactly what I wanted for my students. A thirst for more knowledge.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kmak

  • Super Learning Centers

    Funded Mar 11, 2010

This project has been a wonderful addition to our classroom projects for reading. Students have been enjoying using the materials in a variety of ways. They have been able to create interesting and unique projects that compliment the books they are reading or the subjects they find fascinating using the materials donated for these mini projects.

Students need lots of motivation to continue reading and they eagerly have been reading because they know they will have fun choices when reporting about what they have read in a different form then just a book report.

Thank you for your generous donation! ”

  • Butterfly Dreams Cafe

    Funded Jul 29, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. We have had a blast using the gel pens and gigantic post it note chart paper to work on our creative writing. The students have been using these resources to brainstorm together and to write narrative essays and short forms of poetry. They have been posting the stories all over the classroom! The kids have also had fun using the mini chart stands that I placed on each team. We use these for a variety of pre writing purposes like generating ideas or categorizing juicy word choices that can be used in their creative writing for the Butterfly Dreams cafe. As you can tell from one of the pictures the kids love presenting their finished pieces and sometimes they even get to dress up in costumes!

I am so thankful for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kmak
