  • Remote Learning Kits #2

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

I am so very excited to report that the students in our special education classes received their remote supplies. Each bag was assembled and delivered by volunteers from the Boy Scouts of America. The students couldn't hold their excitement as each student had their bags hand delivered to them at home. Since they are almost all exclusively learning remotely, this is their first package with school supplies, musical instrument, and other items that are for their own use. The families were just as excited and grateful for your donations. I made sure to remind them that their remote learning kits were made possible by the generous donations of donors like you. Many thanks for supporting our project. There will be many more projects to come in the future and hope you will once again support our future requests. Thank you again for all you have done for us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Felix

  • Remote Learning Math Care Kit

    Funded Aug 14, 2020

Having the new dry erase white board in the classroom has truly made a positive impact on our students. If you take a look at the old board behind the new one you can tell it was very difficult to write on as it was just a regular chalkboard painted with whiteboard paint. Students were frustrated with writing on it and it never cleaned up very well. Now, all the students want to come up to the new board and use the magnetic base ten manipulatives. They also enjoy solving their math equations using multiple dry erase colored markers you provided us. We also have the art and science teacher rotate into our class and love the new addition. Thank you for your generous donations as it truly blessed us.”

  • High-Low Intervention Reading System for Struggling Students

    Funded Mar 9, 2020

Your donation came just in time for the massive change that occurred where students were no longer in a brick and mortar school environment and moved into distance learning. The supplies arrived within our last few days at school. I was able to separate all the supplies and create a distance learning care box which included the reading books you donated and an additional math workbook. The care box was also stacked with additional school supplies and packets to work from home. I personally delivered these boxes to every student's home. These materials you donated helped continue their learning until the students received their devices for remote learning. Without your help, their education would have been severely disrupted. Thank you for the donation you made and know it made a tremendous impact in continuing my students' education. They Relied on the use of these reading intervention books for over a month. Thank you for all you have done for us.”

  • Differentiated Math Centers for ALL Learners

    Funded Sep 19, 2019

I can't thank you enough for your help with funding our project. The math workstations have generated such an exciting daily opportunity for our students to work on math fluency and comprehension while having fun. They look forward to finishing their lessons station to then move on to the fluency and independent station. At those two stations, students challenge each other's math knowledge using the supplies you provided.

My students' favorite station activities are the games, "I have, who has... " and "math war." Their math fluency for multiplication is growing immensely. They are also using new strategies to figure out an unknown multiplication fact by using a known fact, then adding or subtracting to solve. Our class is truly blessed to have you as our donor. Please enjoy our pictures of the supplies you provided being put into action. Once again, many thanks.”

  • Autism and the Use of ASL to Enhance Communication

    Funded Mar 4, 2015

On behalf of our class and our teachers, we thank you for supporting our project. The resources you provided have assisted us with learning more about our students on the spectrum and how to better meet their needs. We reviewed various books and information ranging from how to work with our students to how what a child eats can affect their behavior & learning. Your donation also provided us with tools we could immediately use within our classroom. The sign language flashcards, books and videos helped us learn simple signs quickly, so we could communicate with our non verbal students. Once again, our class and staff truly appreciate donations for this special project.”

  • Our Little Guys Need Sensory Supplies

    Funded Feb 27, 2015

Thank you so much for your generosity. The supplies that were purchased have had an amazing impact on our students. The pencil grips, especially the writing claw, is helping our students improve their writing. They have such difficulty with proper grip and are working on their fine motor skills but these grips make it more comfortable for them while writing.

We have also been using the other supplies, such as the chewies, to help a child with Autism get the oral sensory input he seeks in a safe way. Even the two balls we received have had such a positive impact. Our children with Autism have difficulty with social skills and interacting with others. During recess, we have used the balls to encourage interaction, teach play skills and model how to appropriately interact with their peers when playing games. We can not thank you enough for choosing to support our class. These very simple supplies have had such a tremendously positive impact. We hope you will keep our class in mind for future project. Thank you once again.”

  • Laptop for a Deserving LD Student

    Funded Dec 18, 2014

Thank you for donating towards this worthy cause. Our student has been using the laptop for the past few months in school and at home. Much research and reports are being generated using the laptop. Other students have also been using the computer when it is kept in the classroom. We have created slide show presentations, used educational websites to play games that reinforce a specific skill and I can also send messages to their parents. Without this laptop, this student would often be late with projects and homework because she lacked the technology needed to complete the assignment. Not every student can stay after school to use the computer lab. She has been very responsible with it and it is kept safely at school. The computer does travel home and it has made a huge impact on her academic progress. Thank you once again for your donations.”

  • A Virus Eliminated Our Computer. Will You Be Our Antidote?

    Funded Aug 9, 2014

Once again, your contributions have helped complete our project to have a laptop for use with an interactive white board and projector in our classroom. This project was an integral component of having access to technology our students can use to enhance their learning. Our DonorsChoose project for a projector and interactive whiteboard, which was also fully funded, is being used in conjunction with the laptop for interactive lessons, videos and for reading leveled books online through Raz-Kids. Without your support, we wouldn't have been able to afford these items for our class. Thank you for your support and helping is get our students ready for the future.”

  • Help Us Get Even Smarter With A SMART Board!

    Funded Aug 11, 2014

Thank you all for your kindness and generosity. Your support is helping us use our projector and interactive board as tools for learning. My students aren't glued to their desk and are getting up and solving math problems on our board. We have watched educational videos that have a quiz component. We take the quiz as a group and now if someone disagrees with an answer they will go up to the board and try to prove their answer correct.

It's amazing to see these children so motivated by the technology you all provided us. These children also learned that there are wonderful people out there in the world who do care about them and were willing to give them the tools they need to help them succeed. Thank you for this gift!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Felix

My students attend a Title 1 school and are identified as having various types of disabilities and require individualized and or group assistance in a small classroom setting. Our students are some of the most hardworking, happiest children we have the privilege of working with. We are one of the few Pre-k to 8th grade schools left in NYC, located in a district with the majority of schools being title 1, below poverty level, schools. Our school is located in The Bronx known for our world famous Bronx Zoo. Our students are doing their best to get ahead in their education. We appreciate your support towards making their goals a reality.
