Digital Resources for Math Distance Learning Instruction
Funded Feb 8, 2021Thank you for your generous donations and making our project a reality. As I had previously stated on my project description, teaching online is very complicated and these are tools that we can use to make math instruction easier. The use of a digital graphics drawing tablet will allowed me to draw graphs, diagrams and write/solve equations easily for students to learn how to solve middle school math problems. Students have been able to attend live sessions for math and actually see me solve a problem live instead of relying on use of educational videos we use to supplement. The document camera has been used to project documents to students' screens that otherwise they wouldn't be able to see clearly if a picture is taken. Your donations made such an amazing impact in reaching students with live math instruction. Students can now see how to create numerical expressions and ask clarifying questions which gives me the opportunity to write/draw things out to increase their understanding. Thank you so much, once again, for your generosity and choosing to support our students.”

Funded Feb 1, 2021Thank you for your generous donations and making our project a reality. We received the digital microscope which is being used to support remote teaching and enable me as their teacher to display microscope slides digitally through the computer. I was able to set up a remote work station and connect additional monitors and the digital microscope to deliver more effective science instruction. This has greatly increased the effectiveness of instructional delivery as I can present more visuals from the microscope slides. When we return to in-person learning, students will no longer need to share a microscope or take turns looking through the teacher's microscope to see the cells. This microscope perfectly pairs with SmartBoards which presents the slide on a giant screen for all to see. At home, I connect it to the laptop and can present the slides through zoom/meets by sharing my screens. Students can screenshot images and use them in their presentations and make annotations. Once we return to school this microscope will be shared with another science teacher to help deliver more effective instructional presentations. Again, many thanks for supporting my students and I during these trying times. Your donation directly provided a positive impact not only on the improved effectiveness of instruction, but improved student motivation to learn. Thank you!”

Laptop for Remote Teaching
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you for your generous donations and making our project a reality. We received the laptop which is being used to support remote teaching and enable me as their teacher to have a reliable computer to teach with. I was able to set up a remote work station and connect additional monitors to be able to safely see and monitor all the students through their screens on Google Meets and Zoom. The computer has the capability to connect devices such as cameras, digital microscope, use of stylus to promote instruction through Bluetooth and HDMI. This has greatly increased the effectiveness of instructional delivery as I can present more visuals then ever. Once again, many thanks for supporting my students and I during these trying times. Your donation directly provided a positive impact not only on the improved effectiveness of instruction, but improved student motivation to learn. Thank you!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank you for your generous donations and making our project a reality. We received the two monitors to support remote teaching and enable me as their teacher to safely see and monitor all the students through their screens on Google Meets and Zoom. Students used to raise their hands to answer questions but I couldn't see them! That has all changed for the better. Students didn't understand that my screen is completely taken over by the presentation and couldn't see the meet. Now, I can view how my students are reacting to a presentation, see if they are actually at their computer, and make eye contact when speaking and presenting simultaneously. I can also see my presentation on one screen, lesson plan and meets on the others. Many thanks, once again, for your donations and supporting our students during these trying times.”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank you for your generous donations and making our project a reality. Creating a workstation that fits two monitors and school laptop was sorely needed. I was able to set up two monitors, thanks to Donors Choose donations such as yours, to support remote teaching and enable me as the teacher to safely see and monitor all the students through their screens on Google Meets and Zoom. The desk received is the appropriate size desk to create the workstation. It also has enough space for the digital microscope I use to teach science and a small space to place student size white board to show math computation in action. Once again, thank you for supporting my students and I during these difficult times.”

Funded Nov 18, 2020Thank you for your generous donations and making our project a reality. The white boards we received were distributed to all my students regardless of being remote or in-person learning. The students have expressed they were so tired of constantly being on the computer for learning and typing everything out. These white boards gave them a bit of freedom from the keyboard and it was a most welcomed break. We have been using the boards primarily for math and breaks. Students use the white boards and different color markers to work out their math calculations and drawing ratio tables. They enjoy being able to use the boards during breaks where we all create fun drawings and show our talents. Please enjoy the pictures we are sharing with you soon of our boards being utilized during our lessons. Once again, my students and I truly appreciate your support.”

Funded Nov 8, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students are in a self-contained special education class and are participating in my class through remote learning while a few others are accessing our remote classes from the school building. Teaching without additional monitors was very difficult. When you use present mode on google classroom, you no longer can see the students, their chat, or your lesson plan. All I could see is whatever I was presenting. Now, with the monitors, I have the students on one monitor and my lesson plan on the other. On the main computer screen I can see what I am presenting. Student participation has increased so much now as I can read and respond to their questions on the chat and I can see if they look confuse or are raising their hand. Best of all, if any students disappear from my class, I can easily notice this and have a paraprofessional text/call them to come back on. Having these monitors have been such a gift. Thank you again for making our project come to life.”

Funded Oct 23, 2020I am so very excited to report that the students in our special education classes received their remote supplies. Each bag was assembled and delivered by volunteers from the Boy Scouts of America. The students couldn't hold their excitement as each student had their bags hand delivered to them at home. Since they are almost all exclusively learning remotely, this is their first package with school supplies, musical instrument, and other items that are for their own use. The families were just as excited and grateful for your donations. I made sure to remind them that their remote learning kits were made possible by the generous donations of donors like you. Many thanks for supporting our project. There will be many more projects to come in the future and hope you will once again support our future requests. Thank you again for all you have done for us.”
