Our Faces are Our Canvases! Stage Makeup Techniques!
Funded Feb 16, 2019Have you ever tried to fully engage a middle school classroom? One where some of them are fully invested in what is going on in the class and one where others are simply biding their time? I have. And the thing that caused this class to be fully engaged was learning how to do some stage makeup techniques.
The turn around for this class with this project was absolutely amazing! I didn't have to do much more than break open the boxes of supplies and they were excitedly dabbling in the makeup palettes. I was able to have all of them fully engaged throughout the lesson, and it is something that I could not have done without the help of the Donorschoose grant being funded. Thank you so much.”

Creative Students Need Creative Spaces!
Funded Aug 1, 2018The realization of my dream of teaching theatre has been so miraculous! My students are all in almost 100 percent of the time and I'm convinced that giving them a comfortable place to work in went a long way towards their buy in to my classroom and the silly and exciting things that I ask them to do!
The materials arrived at the end of the first week of school and they have made such a difference in the way my classroom is used. Students are free to spread out and work and this way they aren't sitting on a cold concrete floor.
I have loved every second of teaching drama this semester. Special thanks are due to the donors of this project. I am so grateful.”

Unmasking Creativity in Drama Class!
Funded Sep 16, 2018This project has been an amazing one to watch unfold with my students. We did research on Ancient Greek theatre where they learned how the Ancient Greeks celebrated while attending performances in honor of Dionysus. The Greeks used the masks to express their emotions. And keeping with our theme of "This is Me," the students have created masks to express themselves and their emotions. I was able to integrate this project with all of my students and they have really brought their A games to it. We will be showcasing these projects at our coffeehouse event at the school on November 13, and the masks will be coming home afterwards. Thank you so much for your support of my classroom and my students. The impact has been amazing to see and I'm so grateful.”

Current Science Events Make Science Current For Students!
Funded Sep 22, 2017Thank you so much for contributing to this project. It is awesome to have current events eligible for my students and this project brought current events right to their chromebooks.
This project has brought international events to the classroom as well. We are an international magnet school, and it's great to have the access to the current events to highlight our focus.
Thank you so much for your contribution to this project. It has made learning easy, accessible and meaningful to all of my students.”

Funded Aug 22, 2017We have been using these books this year to improve our understanding of 8th grade science and they are the BEST! The books are engaging with lots of pictures and good explanations of the natural phenomena that we are studying. I'm so grateful to have these current titles as resources in my classroom! Having selected these titles means my students have access to written materials that are researched and accurate so that they can enhance their learning. And I'm grateful to be able to go to a print resource quickly rather than just heading to the Internet!”
