  • Kindles for Keen Kids!

    Funded Dec 24, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation to this project to bring more ebook options to my classroom library and our reading community. I know my students will be excited to have access to more books across languages and from the public library. I’m definitely excited to get these checked out to students. Thank you so, so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

  • Student-Run Book Club Books

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting this project and getting it fulfilled so quickly...I am so grateful that I'll be able to get these books into kids' hands just a few days into our book club. Students are excited to have physical copies to carry around and read from for our book clubs-- it makes it feel all the more official and special .Thank you for helping reading be something fun and and special for our middle schoolers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 3 other donors.
  • Books to Make Independent Reading a Blast!

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations. I'm very grateful for the support in making literacy accessible and engaging for my students. I believe that a robust classroom library is so important to students finding books and building their identities as readers. I also know that my students are going to be very excited to receive the books that they requested- things like that truly make the library belong to the class community.”

  • Snacks, Hygiene Items, and Fidgets for Fantastic Middle Schoolers

    Funded Feb 26, 2024

Thank you so much for helping us stock up on snacks and fidgets for our language arts class! The granola bars and smoothie pouches were easy to stock and a little went a long way in helping a student feel nourished.

Especially during tests and those long days at the end of the school year, having snacks and fidgets available helped so many students pull through that last leg of the school year. As temperatures started to rise as we approached summer, I know that so many students were grateful for access to those hygiene items.”

    Ms. Fanale

This classroom project was brought to life by A New York City Parent and one other donor.
  • Student Store Prizes for Awesome Middle Schoolers!

    Funded May 6, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to our student store! It’s wonderful to have cool student store prize options that challenge and engage students in fun ways outside the classroom. I can’t wait to see what create with these new materials. Thank you for making this happen!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors and one other donor.
  • Fed, Fresh, Fully Charged, and Ready to Learn!

    Funded Jan 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class community. I'm grateful that I can continue to keep my classroom stocked with snacks and hygiene items!

The computer chargers have been such a game changer! Using previous items I got through DonorsChoose, I printed off some colorful stickers to put on them to make it a little easier to keep track of them. I've had way fewer instances of students not being able to participate fully in an activity because of a missing charger. Students will come in from other class periods to borrow a charger as well, and I'm glad I can say yes to them rather than worrying that saying yes will negatively impact a student already in my room. It's so nice to be able to escape that scarcity mindset.

Thank you for helping our students have access to academic resources!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

This classroom project was brought to life by LOFT and 2 other donors.
  • Homeroom Fun, Games, & SEL

    Funded Jan 17, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our advisory/homeroom community! These games have been such a wonderful addition to our class time. Twenty Second Showdown in particular was absolutely hilarious and had students laughing as they rushed around and completed the different challenges. They ask to play this game a lot!

We were also able to make Hot Seat into a great whole class activity- the length of the advisory period gives us just enough time to get through one person.

Having a talking piece that is soft and better suited for tossing has been a stress-reducer for our class circles. I've yet to get tired of hearing students groan at the pun when I let them know that when they have the hedgehog is when they get to "hog" the conversation.

Thank you so much for bringing fun and community building to our advisory!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

  • Student Store Items to Celebrate Safety, Kindness, and Learning!

    Funded Dec 28, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our school community! It's been so wonderful to have high-interest items in our student store that aren't just Takis. Having multiple "price" tiers encourages kids to continue earning more of our school currency as well– the wireless mice were a hot ticket item that kids were very excited about.

The small cards with flowers were meant to be student store items, but no students seemed interested. Our leadership students were able to repurpose these items in a Valentine's Day celebration that made it so every single middle school student received a handwritten card (the Valentine's "flowers") and a homemade red velvet cookie. It was such a special occasion!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

  • Organzational Items for Student-Run Student Store

    Funded Dec 27, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our school community! These bins added much needed organization to our Student Store set up. Our "store" is only open for 10 minutes or so during lunch, and the leadership students and I have had such an easier time keeping up with the lines. It makes set-up and clean-up such a breeze as well! Our school currency is meant to reinforce positive behavior, and we're glad that we're not discouraging anyone by having them wait in line for too long anymore.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

  • Books Chosen By Students

    Funded Dec 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class community! The bluetooth headphones have been wonderful for audiobooks both on the Kindle and for Libby books through other devices that don't have headphone jacks. I'm also glad they go over the ear rather than in- it makes it so much easier to keep them clean for students.

To be honest, I don't know much about the plots of FGTeeV or Jujutsu Kaisen...but oh my gosh were students excited to get these books! The FGTeeV books in particular were devoured quickly and enthusiastically, and I had to have an actual waitlist made to keep track of who got the books next. This is why I love when it's possible to let students build the book lists!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fanale

Students read in my class every single day, and they rarely bring their own books with them. With cushions, a couch, and pillows, the classroom library is a cozy and welcoming environment meant to make students feel comfortable and content while they read. Having a rich and diverse classroom library (both in genre and representation) will offer students more choice in what they read, and it will also offer them better choices in what they read. Just enjoying reading and wanting to read more is the foundation students need to become successful and thriving learners, and this classroom library will help get them there.
