  • Flexible Seating & Supplies

    Funded Sep 17, 2023

Thank you, truly, for your generous donation. It is so meaningful that people who have never met my wonderful students continue to care about their education and future. While these items may not seem like they would change a students outlook on their classroom experience, but it does. My students are more free now to move their bodies and feel more at home at school. Our educational system doesn't have the resources to worry about meeting the needs of all our students but thanks to donors like you, my students have more of what they need.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Eyler

  • Ms. Eyler's Online Personalized Learning (Reading) Prize Box!

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

I appreciate your donation, truly. Without you, my students would not have had the extra boost and motivation to complete difficult assignments that require extended periods of productive struggle. Your donation particularly was beneficial to students at the begiving of the year in which they were still learning routines and getting back into the swing of school. For those students who persevered, your donation went towards rewarding and continuing to motivate my students. Thank you again and please continue to support our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Eyler

  • Teaching Accountability & Discipline

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

Thank you so much for your thoughtful donations. The gifts are truly appreciated. Students were shocked that strangers cared about their education! Honestly, they were most excited about the pencil sharpeners! We go through about 5 a year and we haven't had one for months! Secondly, they were excited about having clean binders for next year. In my classroom students are accountable for keeping their classwork organized. We take time every Friday to clean out our bookbags and organizer our binders. Thank you again .”

    With gratitude,

  • Beyond My First Year of Teaching! Back to Basics!

    Funded Aug 27, 2019

I do not know how to express my gratitude adequately. I'm a bit teary-eyed. A whole world of learning possibilities was just opened for my students due to your generosity. I think the most exciting part of getting a project funded by Donors choose is explaining to my students that all of the wonderful things we have now were gifted to us by people who donated merely because they knew Baltimore City students are worth every penny and more. I am truly humbled.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Eyler

  • The Basics

    Funded Oct 30, 2018

My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone that donated.

We had been checking the 'status' of our project every few days on our projector, and both classes were over the moon when we were fully funded! The best part was getting the students to run all the way to the first floor to get every package, and not open a thing until we had everything all together.

The concept of strangers caring about their education was foreign to them, and the respect and curiosity of all the materials was simply amazing.

The resources got us through this year, and I know I can count on the Donor's Choose Community for future help.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Eyler

We work and learn together at an Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore City. Our school is a Title 1 school, and the great majority of our teachers are rated ‘highly effective’. Even so, we are facing paralyzing budgetary concerns despite impressive PARCC scores, a limited suspension rate, and a partnership with the University of Maryland for clinical support. Put short, we lack the basic (and necessary) means to succeed and learn in the classroom; for example, as of today we are out of paper. While I’ve had generous help from family and friends to get me started, I’ll need continued support to get us through the remainder of the year with any hope of a reasonably successful outcome. Most of the items needed are basic teaching materials, such as composition books (each student needs one per quarter), pencils, hole-punch, a stapler, paper (copy paper and loose leaf) and markers. Building academic vocabulary is extraordinarily important, having a three-ring binder for students to use and create their own Vocabulary Journal would be a gift. Additionally, the three-ring binders can be re-used next year. I included basic projector/computer accessories, a sound bar and an HDMI cable. Many students are visual learners and having a clear audio system with so many students is essential. However, there are a few most expensive items that would seem unequivocally important: for example, a replacement bulb to for our classroom's digital projector. At present, the projector is our only point of access to the wider world beyond the immediate streets around us. As trivial as this may sound, awareness of the world and its opportunities helps to stimulate a sense of possibility, which in turn drives academic striving. Any support is appreciated.
