  • C is for Cricut and Creativity!

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Words cannot express how grateful I am to each and everyone of you. Without each of you this project would not have come to fruition. I appreciate your generosity and my students are extremely grateful for the new cricut. Due to language deficits that many of my students face, it is often difficult to truly know how they are feeling, what they need, etc. But, when we received this package full of brand new cricut, you could see the excitement on their faces.

Our school is currently facing a budget shortfall, so without your help, my students would never have these resources. Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.

Again, thank you for your generosity, it has not gone unnoticed."”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kokkinos

  • Autism Students Need Laptop Computer for STEM Projects!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The look on their faces when they saw the MacBook says it all! They were so excited to be able use this technology!

The addition of this MacBook to engage in technology more often during our school day. Students were able to AR test more often. They practiced math facts and played math and reading games. During small group, students were able to practice skills at their individualized level. When reviewing using Kahoots, students were able get in smaller groups with the added laptop.

No matter what academic level, students were able to operate the computer at some point throughout the day. Thank you thank you thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kokkinos

My project will provide needed technology opportunities for the children in our school and show them that science and math are everywhere around them. My students need a laptop computer to assist them with this "Science Environmental" project. I want my students to be able to learn about science through technology. The portable laptop will be used at school and at home to create this project. I want my students to have opportunities to use technology, experiences they wouldn't otherwise have due to the lack of technology in their homes. I will use sustainable energy-themed units with our science school programs. My students deserve these opportunities. Electricity is an imperative part of our daily lives, but many energy sources are damaging the environment, this is important for children to learn at an early age. I plan to have my students read about innovations in alternative energy sources, they will work in collaborative groups to design and build a model of a system to generate energy. Each group will then have an opportunity to present their work in class. Next, the students will create an alternative energy design at home with someone who lives with them and keep data on energy used at home and ways to conserve energy. Finally, the activity will end with everyone discussing the importance of energy resources and what they did at home with their family and to conserve energy. In order to carry out this unit, my students need a computer to research various energy sources and how they might design a system to sustain energy.
