  • Marvelous Mysteries

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation. The A-Z book sets you donated to our classroom are awesome and will be read by many students. Before introducing the mystery reading unit in my class, many of my student shared that they have never read or been interested in mystery books before. Now they can't stop reading them.

The AZ mystery books you donated have given them an opportunity to read a genre that they've never read before. Using the book sets you donated, the students formed book clubs and book partners. Together, they discussed their books with each other, chapter by chapter. Observing and listening to the students talk about the detectives, the clues, the red herring and the crime/mystery being solved was super exciting as an educator.

After finishing one book, my students would ask if they could read another mystery book. They loved these books so much that they are always asking me for more reading time as well. We appreciate your help in fostering the love of reading. We are grateful for generous donors like you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sei

  • We Read to Succeed!

    Funded Mar 7, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Because of you, my students are able to enjoy reading good books. By exposing my students to these kinds of books, you have helped them become lifelong readers. When I read this book with my students, they often wanted me to continue reading to the next chapter. We finished the book in no time. Book sets like these are great resources for my students who don't necessarily have many books to read at home. You have helped foster the love of reading in my class and we greatly appreciate it.”

  • Seeking News...Scholastic News

    Funded Aug 30, 2020

Thank you so much for your donation. It has helped us purchase Scholastic News Online during the pandemic when reading resources are limited to many students. Your generosity has helped my students access an excellent reading source to learn about the current world events and interesting science topics. The students have really enjoyed watching, listening, and reading the Scholastic News online. When reading these articles, my students have been exposed to the many of the issues and achievements in this country. In addition to that, they have also learned about the world events and are able to test their knowledge. After they read and/or listen to the articles, they can test their comprehension and knowledge by answering questions and playing games specifically related to the topics they have read about. For our developing readers, with a click of a button, the site assists them with the reading.

We are grateful that you helped us access this reading resource. Your donation is truly appreciated.”

  • Now I See Clearly

    Funded Jun 14, 2014

Thank you so much for donating towards our projector. When I first attach the projector to my computer, the students were in awe. As I place the paper under the projector, they said,"Wow, this is cool. I can see your gigantic hand."

Since the first time I used the projector, I realized that I could have taught much better with this device. The students love the fact that they could see their classmates work on the screen as we edit their writing pieces together. I have also placed rocks and other small items under the projector and students were quite amazed that small objects could be enlarged on the screen.

The students and I love the projector. It has made my life easier as well as making it fun for students to learn. Now, it is possible for students to follow along when assignments are challenging. They are also able to see small objects and demonstrations clearly. The use for this projector is limitless. I will continue to find new ways to use this device even though I have already used it for many lessons. Your generosity towards this project is much appreciated. It has and will continue to make a positive impact in my students' interests in learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sei

  • iLearn with an iPad

    Funded Feb 3, 2014

Please accept our sincere gratitude for the iPad you donated to our classroom. When I announced to our class that we were receiving a brand new iPad, my students were ecstatic. Some of my students were in awe when they saw the device because never even used one before. They were even more excited when I showed them the educational apps they would have access to. Many of them stated that they could learn and have fun at the same time.

The students have been using it daily individually and in groups to help them with the concepts they need to practice. With a class of 32 students, it's difficult to differentiate all instruction. Each of them have been practicing a skill at their own level. Some of the students are already improving in reading sight words because of this iPad. In such a short period of time, there's already progress shown.

This is a great indication of how this device will advance all my students' skills in the future. We are forever grateful!”

  • Stuck on Science with Magnetism

    Funded Nov 2, 2013

Thank you for the sets of magnets and the books on magnetism. My students loved reading the books which sit on my book display shelf. They used the bar magnets to test various objects for magnetism and have learned many new concepts about magnetism. When they first used the bar magnets, many reacted, "This is so fun and cool!" They were amazed that magnets could pick up objects. Almost every student wanted to show me what his/her magnet could pick up and how it could pick up more than one paperclip at a time.

The students also noticed that the magnets could move objects around with paper between them. Currently, they are using the magnets in our learning centers.

The magnetic ring set and the classroom 3D Magnet Builders are very popular centers in my classroom. My students cheer whenever they are assigned to that center. My students often call me over to show me how they are able to match the rings to the picture card or to show me their cool creations using the magnets from the builders set. The students continue to enjoy using all the magnets.

Thank you for your generosity and for inspiring my students to learn how magnetism works.

  • I Read with iPod

    Funded Feb 18, 2010

I was ecstatic the day I received the shipment of iPods and I even unwrapped them in front of my students. At first my ESOL students had no idea what they were, but now they're so excited when I take them out. Since I received them, all of my students have had several chances to use these new iPods. They love the fact that they have an opportunity to listen to a story of their choice. They especially enjoy getting to read along with it at their own pace.

The iPods make a great listening center. But I also found another advantage of having these devices. In addition to listening to stories on them, my students can also watch the Sesame Street Word on the Street Podcasts. Each Podcast introduces a new word. The actors in these Podcasts explain and act out the word to show its meaning. This will surely help increase my students' vocabulary.

Please accept my sincere appreciation for helping to fund this project. Now all my first graders are on the road to becoming fluent readers with an increased vocabulary knowledge, thanks to your generous donations. You have made a positive impact in their educational experience.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sei
