As a special education teacher, I serve many students in a variety of settings from small classes of 6 students to larger, co-taught classes. Because of the diversity of learners in my classes, my students often work together and collaborate through charting and academic discussion.
School is a place of consistency for many of our students. In our classes, we give students ownership and control of their learning, as many do not have control in other areas of their lives such as their socioeconomic status or home life.
We have students from all over the world in our classes, including Yemen, Guyana, Dominican Republic, and Gambia, which brings a unique perspective to our learning everyday.
