  • Bouncing Back to School!

    Funded Mar 22, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation! This project is one that I was really hoping would get funded because these items are a luxury to have gotten but I feel like will become a necessity now that we have them.

The chair bands are going to be for all my students. Since navigating back to in person learning teaching ourselves how to stay in our chair all day long has become a challenge. These bouncy bands will provide opportunities for movement while remaining in one place. The cushions for the chairs will be something that we share for students who feel they need it that day.

All of these contributions are something that my class and I are eternally grateful for!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drew

  • Seeing Myself in the Stories I Read

    Funded Mar 6, 2022

Thank you so much for donating these books to our classroom. Using these books will help us in building social emotional learning as well as creating a culturally diverse library. I'm most excited to use the book Peaceful Fights for Equal Rights as a whole class lesson to discuss ways we can advocate for change no matter our age.

My students were also excited to see new texts and notice that some referenced holidays or foods they were familiar with. These books will become part of our classroom library so they are not only used for whole class lessons but students can borrow them to read independently.

I am so thankful for your continued support and for bringing these books to my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drew

  • Necessary Nonfiction!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Words cannot express how grateful I am to have had books donated to our classroom that are on an appropriate level for my students to read independently. When the books arrived and I allowed my students to pick out a book to take home for the weekend and they opened it and saw they could read the words, their faces lit up. It's donations like these that make teachers like myself feel so seen. With your help you are building up children to make them feel like they are readers. This is something that you cannot put a price tag on.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drew

  • A CALMing Influence

    Funded Sep 5, 2021

It's amazing that we were able to start the school year off with this project being funded. As we navigate back to in person learning after a year and a half of a global pandemic we all needed many tools to help readjust. We've already received our "pop it" so far and are enjoying using it as a reward and to help calm down.

I intend to use these in our room in many ways: as a reward, for a calming moment, and just for a "brain break". Who knows, maybe we'll even find creative ways to incorporate them to our instruction.

Once again, I thank you so much for your contributions to this project and so do my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drew

  • Fun With Fiction!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

What an amazing thing to hear that this project was funded. Currently, my classroom has books that are too challenging for my emerging leaders. I wanted to be able to provide them with texts that were engaging but able to be read independently so they could fall in love with reading. With your support we are able to do that just.

My plan for these books is to allow children to be able to create book baggies that they can use to read on their own, write reports about, and bring home to even read to their families. I know they'll be so excited when I unveil our new and improved library to them.

Once again, I thank you for your generous contributions and look forward to sharing photos with you of the books in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drew

  • Reading is FUNdamental!

    Funded May 7, 2021

Wow! I cannot even begin to express my dearest gratitude and appreciation for your generosity particularly at the end of such a challenging school year. My students and I have navigated so many changes and this surely was the greatest reward we could receive at the end of the year.

As mentioned in my project your contributions will go directly to being able to help my 19 first graders in need. These children have come such a long way in their reading and this will allow them to review skills we've taught this year such as sequencing, answering "wh" questions, discriminating between fiction and non-fiction, and so much more independently at home with their families. These books will be some of the first in their at home libraries and for that I am eternally grateful. You are helping contribute to the beginning of creating life long readers.

A personal favorite moment for me upon receiving and gifting these books was that some of my remote students took it upon themselves to virtually have story time while waiting for me to begin the lesson. One of the students took out the books you gifted and read to the other students pretending to be the teacher. It truly was a special moment.

I once again am so grateful for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drew
