  • Back to School, Back to Basics

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Words can’t express how grateful I am for your continued generosity! My students desperately need these supplies and they will get used on a daily basis. I can’t wait to share these as new supplies with them, I’m sure they will be just as excited as I am. Thank you again!”

  • A Creative, Comfortable, and Clean Classroom!

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

I can't thank you enough for your generous donations to our classroom! We've adopted a weekly routine of wiping our desks clean and it's all thanks to you! Students are happy to help keep the classroom environment clean and to have tissues to wipe their runny noses. The art supplies have been put to great use! We have designed advertisements for caravels and brochures for the original colonies. Next, we plan on creating pennants in honor of Black History Month. I can honestly say that students feel welcome and comfortable in my classroom.

    Thank you again!”

  • Virtual Reality for Language Learning!

    Funded Feb 25, 2019

Wow! Thank you for helping bring every corner of the world into my classroom! I cannot begin to thank you enough for the Virtual Reality Oculus headsets that continue to inspire my students every single day.

When the Oculus headsets first arrived my students were excited, engaged and, at times, slightly nauseous. It has been a tremendous experience watching them utilize this immersive and inspiring technology.

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all of you for your support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. My students learning experience is stronger and more effective because of all of you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Damato

  • Ink, Ink and More Ink!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your support! With your generous donation I have been able to keep our printer up and running with new ink. You would not believe the impact of having a color printer in our classroom! This new ink and color printer have had a major impact on my students and I. By printing the Social Studies materials in full color, students are able to engage in the material in a more meaningful way. Even if we can't take a trip to the museum, we can print photos of the artifacts for students to examine. Additionally, many of my students do not have access to a color printer at home, so by having one in my classroom they are able to keep up in all of their classes.

    I cannot thank you enough!”

  • Bring our 3D Printers Back to Life!

    Funded Dec 22, 2017

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support! With your donation we were able to purchase some much needed replacement parts for three of our 3D printers that have been out of commission for some time. Each week students are encouraged to design their own 3D creations using online software and now we can finally bring these original designs to life!

When the replacement parts finally arrived, students were cheering with excitement! It is amazing to see how technology brings ALL of my students to life in such an engaging and creative way.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Damato

  • Help ESL Students Publish and Preserve Their Work

    Funded Sep 16, 2015

I cannot thank you enough for our new printer and portfolio materials! The printer and ink are used on a daily basis. Students are able to publish and print their work for this class and for others. I've also been able to differentiate materials more easily by printing out a graphic organizer or visual that the students might need for a particular lesson. Many of these students would not be able to print their work if not for this one in the classroom. The portfolios have been a great source of pride for my students. Each student has their own hanging file folder with their published final drafts and other work.

When the printer arrived all of my students were cheering with excitement. Since not every classroom has access to a printer, students were excited that now they can print their work and were even more excited to find out that it prints in color!

In the future we will continue to use the printer for both teacher created materials and as a tool to provide students with printer access on a daily basis.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support!”

  • Let's Build a Love For Reading While Learning English!

    Funded Jan 21, 2015

I cannot thank you enough for your generous contribution to our classroom! I wish I could have recorded the reaction from my students when all of the new books were delivered to our classroom. The room literally erupted in cheers and some students jumped out of their seats!

Students use the new books each day for independent reading at school and at home. Most of them have been able to really connect to the multicultural topics. Before your treasures arrived, many students had difficulty finding books that interested them and were at their reading level. Now they wait eagerly for the books to become available and recommend them to friends after their friends.

Research shows that there really is no better way to engage students in learning than by an authentic pursuit of reading and following ones own interests. I can already see the improvement in students' engagement, vocabulary, comprehension, and stamina. Independent reading time is great for the students learning, but as a teacher it allows me a chance to work with students one on one to target their specific needs. I have already seen a tremendous growth in their reading responses. It is amazing to see students make real connections with characters that have similar cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds as them. Now during independent reading you can hear a pin drop.

    We can't thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Damato

  • Inspiring Global Citizens in the Bronx!

    Funded Oct 31, 2011

I cannot thank you enough for your generous contribution to our classroom! The Time for Kids magazines are an excellent and engaging resource that the students truly enjoy reading. Each day we have SSR- Sustained Silent Reading and all of the students get very excited when the new bundle of magazines arrive. The articles are so interesting and unique that every student finds one that they like.

I'm not sure if you are aware but the new Common Core State Standards emphasize informational text. With Time for Kids I have been able to trick students into reading non-fiction articles and practice their reading comprehension at the same time and they don't complain doing it.

Thank you for reaching out to my classroom in the Bronx!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Damato
