  • Let's Meet at the Table!

    Funded Oct 31, 2021

Wow!!! Thank you so much for funding my project! I can’t wait to be able to provide these new sensory seat options for my students! They are going to be so happy! The table will now be a great addition to our classroom. We will all be able to fit around the table!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Culliford

  • Centers, Oh My!

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

Unfortunately our year was cut short because of Covid 19, but before that my students enjoyed our new centers. Learning through play is so important for children. They need to learn social skills and how to take turns. Things as adults we take advantage because we know the social norms. For students with autism, it does not come naturally. They have to be taught the norms and playing through games can help them. It helps students to not only master skills taught from a lesson but also have some fun as well. My students favorite game is the sight word fishing. To see their faces when I pulled out that game was priceless. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my students these resources.”

  • Run Jump and Learn!

    Funded Oct 1, 2019

Thank you so much for helping me start a sensory path in my classroom! I can not wait to set up a place where my students can release enters while learning. My students are also very active and sometimes can be rough with items around the classroom. Having headphones that blend and are flexible so that my students can wiggle around without fear of breaking the headphones.”

  • Nothing is Better than some Organization!

    Funded May 14, 2019

Wow! I am so thankful for the support I received with this project. Without donorchoose I would have never received a mobile library or a new desk. As teachers we pay for most of our supplies so if we wanted new furniture it would have to be bought with our own funds. I received a donorchoose gift card during teacher appreciation week and went on the website to think about what I would do with it. I then saw that projects were being matched by the Newmark foundation! I thought that this was the time to create a project and I did! Receiving the new furniture opened up my classroom and has giving me the opportunity to have a library for my students! Before I had a broken shelf that was taking up so much room and was pretty dangerous because we was not mounted to the wall. But with this cart! The possibilities are endless! I am beyond blessed.”

  • Gotta be Flexible!

    Funded Nov 5, 2018

I am just blown away about how many people shared my post about my project! My students love the table and it has come in handy, because we gained a lot more students since I posted the project. My students love to sit at the table on the carpet and learn while they are watching me on the smart board. They use the table to eat snacks on and share ideas and create well thought out conversations. My students enjoy the option to sit on the floor instead of chairs. They are able to make choices about their environment and how they learn throughout the day. The cushions are a big help for my students in inclusion. They are to move freely and wiggle without disrupting their other peers. Thank you again for supporting my classroom!”

  • Changing the Way My Students Learn with Flexible Seating!

    Funded Aug 16, 2018

I am brought to tears! My heart is so full. This project will reach my students in so many ways. These seating options will help my students focus and help them learn! I am so thankful that you chose to support special education. I know that my students will appreciate this.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Culliford

My classroom is the special education room for grades 1st-3rd. At any given time, I have up to 10-17 students coming into my classroom to work on different classwork in any of the three grade levels. It is hard for my students to have a place for their materials and assignments because the students come in and out of our classroom all day and they have to share desks. It would help my students in my special education class, if they were to have their own storage center with bins and folders so that I can better organize what they need to work on each day.
