  • First Year Teacher: Flexible Seating to Enhance Engagement and Learning!

    Funded Dec 30, 2021

I would like to sincerely thank you for the impact your donation has done for my students and for myself as a first year special education teacher. My students were very excited to receive the packages full of goodies. The look of their excited faces was really touching. Once they opened the boxes, they wanted to use them right away!! The chair bands, carpet squares, and wobble cushions have really come in handy. The students are so grateful for everything. Each and every thing given was used and is still being used. They are very careful of how they use the supplies. They always mention that they want to keep using them for years to come, so they take very good care of them.

My diverse learners love to use the wobble cushions, chair bands, and carpet squares as a flexible seating option. They use them during independent reading, instruction, and group work. These flexible seating options have provided a safe, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment for all of my wonderful students. They have also provided my students with a sense of support and security. We can't thank you all enough! We really do appreciate all the donations and support you have given us. They are focused and ready to learn using the supplies they need to excel in their learning.”

  • Starting First Grade the Right Way!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I would like to sincerely thank you for the impact your donation has done for my students and for myself as a first year teacher. My students were very excited to receive their packages of goodies. The look of their excited faces really was heartwarming. Once they opened the boxes, they were excited to find all the supplies. They wanted to use them right away!! The pencils, notebooks, dry erase boards, cleaning supplies, crayons, glue sticks, stress balls, and chair bands have really come in handy. The students are so grateful for everything. Each and every thing given was used and is still being used. They are very careful of how they use the supplies. They always mention that they want to keep using them for years to come, so they take very good care of them.

The wipes and cleaning supplies have kept our classroom clean and safe. We were able to come into the classroom everyday knowing that we were coming into a clean and safe environment. Your donation has also made learning fun and engaging for my students. My students love using the magnetic whiteboards and dry erase markers during their Math Problem of the day. During problem of the day, I can check for understanding of the math concepts taught to them by seeing their math thinking on the whiteboards. They love showing their math thinking on the boards and it sparks great math conversations.

The pencils and primary notebooks have been so helpful in the classroom. When they received them, they were so excited and couldn't wait to start using their notebooks and pencils. My students love writing in their primary journals. They use these tools daily. The primary notebooks and pencils have allowed my students to write about books they are reading and also about their daily lives. These notebooks have also allowed my students to express themselves not only through their writing but through their drawings. My students always enjoy getting to draw a detailed picture of what they write. This helps my students connect their writing to the images they create. The crayons also help my students bring color to their drawings. Fun Fridays have also never been so fun! They loved using the crayons and glue sticks for their arts and crafts. They have made masks, flowers, and so much more!

I know that this note is not enough to thank you all. We really do appreciate all the donations and support you have given us. My students look forward to using the supplies everyday! They are focused and ready to learn using the supplies they need to excel in their education. Your support does not go unnoticed. All the supplies have been so useful and have been taken care of so carefully. My students year couldn't have been a successful one without your help. Thank you again for all of your donations. We are all extremely grateful for everything. This was all a dream come true for me and my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cordova

I am a Special Education teacher who will be teaching a First grade ICT bilingual class in the Bronx. I will be teaching children with multiple disabilities. My first grade students are diverse and come from many different backgrounds and cultures. My students belong to a lower income level community in the Bronx. About 90 percent of the students in the school are available for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive special education services and some of my students are English language learners. They will need supports in every aspect of their lives, both in the classroom and beyond. My students will learn best in a classroom that offers them the supports they need to participate successfully in classroom activities.
