  • "What's for Lunch?"

    Funded May 8, 2024

It is because of donors like you that our school has been able to take a STEM initiative and begin to grow food to add to our lunches. The STEM initiative for our students has not only engaged and peaked their curiosity, but has also helped them to connect concepts together across curricula.

Currently, we have just finished setting up our new equipment and prepping seedlings to be able to thrive during the winter cold. Students have brainstormed ways and engineering methods to keep plants thriving through winter, and maintain supply in lunches. They are also preparing to monitor and measure the growth of plants.

With luck, our STEM project will be successful through winter and continue into spring. Donors like you have enabled us to purchase a variety of seeds to be used, which gives choice to students in growing something of their liking; we thank you for that. Students are energized and excited about this opportunity, and it opens up other doors for students from the high school agriculture program to work with us as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. C

  • Future Gardeners Of America

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you for helping out classroom. This greenhouse has really inspired my students to look at what they eat and how hard it is to grow healthy food. It also has helped them understand the unit on plant growth in their curriculum. This unit and this project will help overlap multiple units in our science curriculum for them, while also giving them a hands on experience of plant growth in real time.

Students have also inquired about using the produce in the school lunches. Obviously, this project has created quite an impression with students and will continue on throughout the year. People like you are why we as teachers are able to provide opportunities like this for our students. Opportunities like this, will create meaningful experiences for students that they may not otherwise have had.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. C

  • Wonder Through a New Reading Adventure

    Funded May 31, 2023

Thank you for your wonderful gift of "Wonder". My students have fallen in love with the book and are very interested in it. They have really pieced together reading aspects as a result of being invested in what they are reading. I love seeing the "light bulb" come on for some of them as they piece together sequence events and cause/effect relationships.

It is because of caring people like you, that schools and classrooms like mine can provide these learning opportunities with meaningful material. The chapters books will not only help students this year, but year after year. They will also help to expose students to different genres of books and peak their curiosity. You have truly played a role in shaping the thinking of our future; for that, I am thankful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. C
