  • Point + Click Making Sure All Students See Themselves

    Funded Sep 20, 2024

My students were SO excited when they heard that we were getting new cameras for the Yearbook. We will ensure that ALL students are represented in the yearbook. We want to increase students by and in and sense of belonging! You helped us to achieve that goal. We thank you for honoring our students and community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cody

This classroom project was brought to life by The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation and 10 other donors.
  • The Writing Is on the Wall: Turning Walls Into Whiteboards

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

The first thing we did was paint my classroom's tables and walls. Each student, with their individual markers, could express their mathematical thinking. Students were able to use individual thinking time to do the work.

Students shared ideas, and we did a gallery view, where they were able to look at each other's work. It's a beautiful thing to see students collaborate and share their ideas. We want to deepen the learning community. We can only do that if we give students opportunities to think, do and share!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cody

  • Ink, Ink, Baby (And Dry Erasers Too)!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

OMG! Thank you for helping us start the school year off right. I am excited to help my students write, read, and print their brilliant thoughts and stories. We are going to be stronger together BECAUSE of you. As a new resource teacher, I want to ensure we have the tools to build on our knowledge and create an environment of success.”

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

I cannot wait to meet the little humans that are coming to my Math class this year. I am so grateful that you took the time to help my babies start this year off right. As we flex our seats and grow our minds we are supporting the next generation of thinkers and doers.”

    Ms. Cody

  • Click, Shoot, Yearbook Please

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Our yearbook squad this year is going to be so excited to take photos in real time to be used for our school wide love letter. Thank you for using your resources to support students that you may never meet to do work that will totally impact their lives! Happy School Year, baby!!”

  • Color, Paste, Write, Learn- Interactive Math Notebooks for the Win.

    Funded Jul 27, 2022

How do you make math come ALIVE? You have to interact with it! You need to make it a resource that students use over and over again throughout the year. And because of you, I was able to do that. Students loved cutting, pasting, coloring, and annotating notes inside of their notebooks. As the semester progressed, there were pages marked, students used their notebooks during table discussions and fundamental growth and excitement about the learning.

We want to foster learning even when no one is looking. We want to make sure that students know that they are enough! They are smart and capable of all things.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cody

This classroom project was brought to life by Chevron and one other donor.
  • Math on the Move: Making math magic happen ANYWHERE

    Funded Dec 10, 2019

Covid rocked the way that we were able to support students and their learning. We went from working together with the same tools in our classroom to having the students try to engage in learning online, at home. We were working on One Step equations when the world closed. What would have been students huddled together using Algebra tiles to make connections with the learning, left us under-resourced and ill-prepared.

The students were EXCITED to engage with the lesson together with the tools that would have had in class. As I was talking about the X tile, I asked students to pull it out of the bag and interact with it with me. I heard students inviting their families in on the conversation and helping to truly transport the knowledge of classroom learning to home learning.

I am so grateful for this”

  • Click, Click Let's Present

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

As a teacher, I am tasked with supporting my students to become learners, thinkers + doers. This skill set means that students have to see themselves as worthy of sharing their thoughts and ideas. Public speaking is hard for a lot of people, and the more you practice the better you get.

Giving the students of using a clicker helped to ease their anxiety and focus on what was important-- their words. They were able to practice commanding the stage as they used the clicker as a tool to move their slides and tell their story.

There are soft skills that are just as important to developing the whole child. You helped me to help my babies get one step closer to all of that!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cody

  • Battery Full + Ready To Go

During this time of their lives, they are very motivated by rewards Your support will totally be felt. Continue to support the future movers and shakers of the world. Together we can make a difference. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cody

OMG yall! I am so excited that my beautiful babies will have their hands and minds full of these wonderful authors to celebrate and uplift Black voices and stories. This work is tough right now and you are helping me to survive a little longer! Thank you again and Happy Black History Month.”

I work in a Title One middle school in the greater Bay Area. Over 60% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. My students come from very different academic and social backgrounds. I recognize this, and see the different learning styles and current abilities. I have students that want to learn and be supported in their learning and I want to be there for them. We are trying to create a space where the students needs are being met everyday. Most of my students started this school year, below grade level in math. So I am trying to give them the tools needed to be successful so that they can continue the pushing themselves academically and gain math and science mastery. Math is essential to the REST of their formative academic learning. If I can get my students to continue to engage then they will continue to grow every day.
