  • School Supplies for the New Year

    Funded Jun 12, 2023

Thanks so much for your donation! It is very generous of you to help children in our public schools. We couldn't do it without your support. We appreciate all donations, knowing that you do not have to donate. Thank you for caring and participating to help our schools. Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jordan

  • The Anatomy of AP Psychology

    Funded Mar 21, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations! The students this year have absolutely loved interacting with the eye, ear, and brain models!

Your donation will help students for years to come, both by inciting curiosity when a student passing-by will see the models, as well as to provide opportunities for hands-on learning.

The students were so excited to see multi-dimensional models, particularly of the eye and ear, because it allows them to see things that are normally pretty small. I know for sure that the depth of their understanding has been improved by your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jordan

  • Celebrate the "Quaranteen" Class of 2020

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you for helping Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy's Class of 2020 celebrate their graduation. Many of the new graduates are now on their new college campuses, and others are starting their degrees online! These young men so appreciated the wonderful gift you were able to provide for them, and they loved the book that can give them wonderful life advice. Your generous donation gave these kids a bright, warm light in the midst of a very shaky and uncertain year. Nobody could have expected that their high school career would end the way it did, but this gift helped them spin a negative into a positive. Thank you!!”

  • Studying Women's Rights at an All-Boys School

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Thank you so much for the impact you have made. We have been reading the book together in class, and have had to pause many times just to digest what we have read. "Half the Sky" is an incredibly impactful book for anyone, but especially for young men in an urban school. We have looked up charities related to women's rights around the world, and we will be raising money for one of them when we are done reading the book. The book is full of tragic, yet inspiring stories, and the kids have been enthralled the entire time. The discussions we have in class are priceless, and we thank you for this experience you have given us. Thank you for making an impact, we are forever grateful!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jordan

I am a high school social studies teacher at a very small, all-boys college prep magnet school in Houston, Texas. We are a public school and Title I, with about 49% of our students being African American and about 46% being Hispanic. Due to the fact that we are small (approximately 175 students in grades 9th-12th), I am solely responsible for many classes: AP US History, AP Government & Politics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, AP Research, and Model UN. This is my second year teaching at my current school (last year I also taught AP World History), and I absolutely love it. The kids are amazing -- they have great personalities and great brains! Every year I strive to improve my practice, while maintaining a sense of freedom and individualism so they students can thrive and succeed.
