I would like to purchase 25 wobble chairs for my 7th grade math classroom. Studies have found that “children fidget more when a task requires them to store and process information rather than just hold it. This is why students are often restless while doing math or reading, but not while watching a movie.” Wobble chairs can help children that are constantly moving about, fidgeting and rocking in their chair. It is thought that these children are using their movement to help to stay alert and focused. Within the sensory processing disorder model, these children would be called movement sensory seekers. The wobble chair can provide a more appropriate and less distracting way for them to receive movement while sitting in their chair. It can also be helpful for a child who is slumped in their chair and appears to have low energy.
