  • Starting School Supplies!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

The supplies bought with these donations were received with excitement from my students. From the time we started opening the boxes to using them daily, my students have appreciated the gifts. We utilize these supplies with our morning routine for hygiene. (brushing our teeth/hair and washing our faces/hands)

Each student is learning the importance of a hygiene routine. We have clearly seen a difference in their appearance and health since they have begun using their materials. They each keep their own materials in an assigned storage cube located in our class bathroom. Everyday they began by eating breakfast, then brush their teeth, wipe their face before ending by brushing their hair.

I have watched each student begin to take pride in their appearance. They no longer have to be redirected several times to complete this task, one reminder and they are excited to do it. Thank you so much for allowing my students this opportunity to gain confidence and stay healthy.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. C. Decker

  • Health = Sanitize Germs Away

    Funded Dec 4, 2021

Your support has been invaluable to our classroom. After receiving these supplies our attendance has improved to 90% and none of the students have had to be quarantined or miss school for illnesses.

We are incredibly grateful for all that you do for schools and classes like ours. It truly helps when resources are given and provided.

We don't always have the means to provide them ourselves and that you would give so freely to help others means a lot.

My students and I thank you for helping us take care of ourselves and others during a time of great need, when the things we needed, we couldn't get ourselves. This allowed our education to continue while our nervousness and fear was at least for a moment solved.”

  • Special Education's Coffee Cart

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

Every week our students take orders through a Google Form. After the orders are tallied the students fill the orders by putting the requested items in a small bag and preparing the cups for the beverages. On Friday the students brew the coffee, tea or hot chocolate and fill the cups. We take the orders around our school to deliver to any teacher or school staff member.

Each students gets a chance to participate through the month through a rotation schedule. Each student gets a chance to experience each role, filling orders, filling cups, pushing the cart, making deliveries, counting back change and building rapport with the customers.

As new students are enrolled we give the current student the opportunity to mentor the new students and explain how our cart works, the purpose and what their responsibility is. The kids are so excited every week to begin the process. We hope to continue to give each student the opportunity to build confidence in approaching others and communicating. Computation skills are not as stressed in society since most everyone has access to a calculator. However, the students are building that knowledge, obtaining that skill and becoming faster every week. Thank you for this opportunity.”

  • Hygiene Importance

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

We cannot thank you enough for these amazing supplies! We are so grateful to your contribution to support our students in learning the importance of hygiene and organization. Each of our students were able to receive their own set of hygiene products (deodorant, tooth brush, and tooth paste with a bag to keep it in).

We were also really excited about our seat pockets. Due to covid restrictions the students are not allowed to keep their supplies in their cubbies at the back of the room. This cuts down on the amount of space students have to keep their supplies and belongings. However with these seat pockets it is easier to organize supplies and keep them within reach. It has also cut down the traffic in the classroom. Now we do not have many students wondering around the room sharing or transferring germs.

We are very grateful for your continued support for education. Your donations are extremely helpful for teachers and students who need the extra support to find success, independence and encouragement.”

  • A New Approach

    Funded Mar 5, 2021

For the past 5 years I have been teaching my students have struggled with place values and adding multi-digit numbers. This tool has made learning easier for my students. They can now work out their problems independently. They love having their own set and not having to share but they also love showing me how they make numbers. The hardest step for them was when regrouping. They couldn't understand how the ones turn into tens and why it changed the problem.

I cannot explain the joy I have gotten watching them figure this out and begin to love working with numbers. You have given them an amazing experience.

We are so grateful to you for your support. Thank you so very much for encouraging learning and helping to make it easier and fun.”

  • Our Wonder

    Funded Oct 15, 2017

We are so very thankful for your support and the new addition of books to our classroom. We all enjoyed reading this book and discussing the impact of bullying. With your help we were able to create a safe environment for my class to discuss what bullying looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Each of the students were able to discuss their past experiences as well as some of the things they are currently facing. It was a huge awakening for a few of my students as they came to the realization that some of their actions and words were in fact making them a bully.

With these books in our classroom we were able to motivate and change the hearts of my students. Some of them are holding firm to what they have learned. We were able to read as a whole class, which we are rarely able to do with our limited number of copies, each student was able to have their own copy and follow along or volunteer to read aloud. My students laughed, cried, yelled...it was amazing to see them so involved with this book and to watch them experience a positive reading activity. Most of my students do not like reading because of the difficulties they have but my students were excited to read this book and have book discussions on the characters, events and plot.

I am very grateful for you help in allowing us to have this experience. The students worked hard to spread the word about bullying. We have all been huge promoters of this book and encouraged all those around us to read it for themselves and possibly implement it in their classrooms. None of this would have been possible without your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. C. Decker

The students that make up my classroom are mostly students with medical illnesses or disabilities that severely impede their learning capabilities within a regular education setting. We sometimes service students that cannot travel without wheelchairs, that have G-tubes or a seizure disorder that prevents them from being successful in classrooms with their peers. In the future they may often get bullied for their differences. They are viewed as different, weird and stupid. However, just because my students look different, react differently, take more time to do or understand something does not make them lesser than anyone else. I want to help show my students how to see beyond the appearance of people or things to what really matters. Just because someone is different does not mean that they cannot do something. It just means that they will do it in a different way. You can help lessen their struggles.
