  • Learning Through Games

    Funded Sep 1, 2010

Once again I would like to express my gratitude to you for your generous gift to our classroom. Teaching is a field that may appear easy on the outside, but is definitely not on the inside. While teaching can be challenging, teaching students who don't always come into my class speaking English is even more of a challenge. Generous donors like yourself, have made teaching and learning easier.

If only you could see the expression on the faces of my students when I tell them that their group is going to work with a center. They become so excited and motivated, that I've never had to repeat the instructions for any center. These centers have not only taught them parts of the English language but teamwork, following rules and how to take care of materials.

Using the Science BINGO's has enhanced their vocabulary greatly. I hear them using some of the words during our Nonfiction readers and writers units of study. Parents have also told me that their children are using "big words" at home. I know that we have learned science terms, but also know that the BINGO games allow for them to visualize and listen to the words more allowing them to use them correctly.

Thank you so much for your support. As an educator, I know that "I" can't do it alone and express this greatly to parents and to donors like yourself. You have made our learning experiences more memorable.

You have impacted more lives than you can imagine. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carrion

  • 2nd Grade Class in Need of Resources for Listening Center

    Funded Oct 19, 2009

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. You could never imagine how thankful my students, colleagues and myself are for the resources purchased for our classroom listening center.

Students have been able to enhance their literacy skills with listening strategies. Not only do they listen but they are able to have discussions showing their comprehension of various stories also increasing their English speaking skills. My students have also become more independent when it comes to working in small groups and staying on tasks. They have enjoyed and continue to enjoy listening to stories. It continues to be one way to motivate them to read new books.

Donors like yourself are especially important and crucial to improve learning. Due to budget cuts, schools can no longer purchase resources they would like for their students. People like yourself, have allowed for teachers to educate students to the best of their ability. We are very grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carrion

  • Children's Work Should Be Cherished

    Funded Jun 5, 2008

I would like to thank you funding my proposal. This year has been a success, however; some situations are unforgettable. One of which is recalling the upset faces when students work was teared.

Thanks to your generosity, next year will be a greater success. Students will be able to appreciate their work more and keep it in good condition.

It was not until this year that I realized how important a child's work is to them, their parents and their educators. I would not like to take that away from anybody.

Once again, my sincere thanks goes out to you for enabling my classroom environment to become a more pleasant one.

    Enjoy your summer!

    Sincerely yours,

    Arelis ”

  • Art Supplies Needed for Kindergarten Class

    Funded Jan 1, 2008

I would like to thank you for funding my proposal. My students will benefit from the supplies in many ways. Most importantly, we will be able to integrate Art in many different subject areas throughout our learning.

Students should have continuous doors opening for them and that is what you have just done for our class. Once again, thank you and have a happy new year”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carrion

Students should be motivated to read while using various strategies! This September I will teach a 2nd grade ESL class in a high-need community. Already faced with the challenge of having a language barrier, students should be able to experience literature through different means of instruction. Having taught ESL students in the past, I've realized how enthusiastic readers become when using our classroom listening center.
