Sending Holiday Cheer to Students' Homes
Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank you so much for your amazing support! because of you, we have been able to provide a gift that all the students can enjoy with their families at home. The families in my class bought pizza and different things to enjoy with their children. Their smiles are priceless!! My students have been working so hard despite the pandemic, and I want to continue to motivate and reward them for their hard work.
These gift cards will not only provide this incentive, but it will ensure that each student, in my classroom, has a gift to open up over the holidays. I want them to know that while we are not sharing the same physical space all the time, I recognize their hard work. I hope you can help me spread some holiday cheer by contributing to this project.
Thank you so much!!”

Funded Nov 11, 2020yayyy! thank you so much for your support in providing my students with a laptop that they were able to use for programming their lego mindstorm. My students' are able to develop essential skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Because of you they were able to use the EVE3 software to learn to program the EVE3 robots and other creations! To Enhance Curiosity for the 21st Century. They had so much fun building their robots and programming them. We will start creating more complex robots that will vary which can provide meaningful learning experiences that build confidence in STEAM learning. Confidence is the belief in your own ability to learn, to accomplish something with what you know. It's being comfortable trying something you've never done before without worrying about a right answer.
In an increasingly technology focused world many students will end up in jobs that don't even exist yet. This makes building the confidence to learn and adapt even more important. We know that hands-on learning through play is one of the best ways to boost confidence, and that is why I like provide my students with project that are out of the box and new experiences to them. In addition to this, they will change their mindset by having a growth mindset! When students adopt a growth mindset, they view challenges as ways of progressing toward their desired outcomes. Students who believe they can develop their talents and abilities see roadblocks and critical feedback as methods to gather information they could use to help themselves learn. Thank you so much for providing my students with this support! you are amazing and we are truly grateful. 😘”

Empowering Girls To Become STEM Explorers
Funded Oct 16, 2020Thank you so much for your amazing support! because of you, my girls were able to become empowered and create presentations for our students and learn about the different females. I was surprised how happy some of my Mexican girls reacted, some had mentioned they never knew Mexican girls could do those things. This touches my heart because for a child to say that they believe that they can do anything as a powerful figure such as Rosario Castellanos, Rosario Castellanos, Rosario Castellanos, Rosario Castellanos, and Tessy María López Goerne. In addition to that, they were able to make a connection to strong females from their own neighborhood the BRONX! Like Esther Lederberg from the Bronx who won a noble prize. My girls have been empowered to believe in themselves and having a growth mindset. Thank you so much for allowing me to have the chance to provide them the opportunity to learn and obtain resources.”

Funded Oct 26, 2020wow!!!! I am speechless with the amazing support you have provided my students!! They had a blast learning about different cultures. They were excited about the piñata they made and the read-aloud. It is important for students to feel empowered and feel that a school is a safe place and learning about their own culture was exciting. Being able to be provided with a costume is memorable. One student cried by looking at their Marshmellow Mask! this made me happy to see that gifts such as yours make a child day!!! Accepting everyone that is different in their culture is important for students to learn and develop at a young age. It is a wonderful way to connect with children to the different cultures that exist and to give others an outlook of our beautiful tradition. Thank you so much for making these experiences possible. We appreciate everything you do! 🥰😘😁👍🏼👏🏻”

Funded Oct 8, 2020thank you so much for funding our project to advocate for my student's right to become an activist. My students live in a community surrounded by poverty, with this project my students will be advocating for themselves and their community. I want students to become problem solvers. We are going to create projects that involve finding and doing research on issues that involve their community. Once my students find a problem in their community after diligent research they will create their own solution on how to solve the problem. Thank you so much for providing us with the support they need. They are writing letters to advocate for more stem and coding opportunities for the Bronx. Thank you so much for your amazing support!!!!”

Funded Oct 5, 2020thank you so much for your amazing support to our students from our community to advocate for their education. My students were. very excited building and creating becoming innovators. They had mentioned they only saw creating video games for hackers or creating moving objects such as the WALLE as something unimaginable. Using the electronics to build and code in a STEM lab using the nitendo switch to create coding games and using the materials such as the microbit to build and program their own game. With the STEM lab students are able to build, explore, model, and just be plain curious about how things work.
Exploring with our STEM resources, students have learn new skills such as programming, design thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students desperately need these skills to thrive in the 21st century. Thank you so much for allowing my students the opportunity to become exposed and innovators.”

Funded Oct 8, 2020Thank you so much for your amazing support to our Mott Haven Community. Our parents were very grateful because of everything you have given us to be successful. My students were overwhelmed with joy being able to start Computer Science and advocating to have this in our classroom. In addition to this, they were able to start with the basic schools which is creating presentations and making their own program using. scratch. We will develop skills to continue to physical computing with building using a makerspace.
It is important to have conversation involving the disparity in education and the effects in computer science. In order to increase the minority population in careers in computer science we need to expose students to STEM. We need to advocate and develop curriculum that elevates the progression to better prepare to utilize Computer Science. Talking about race, although hard is necessary because race is a defining social construct in American life. It is important to engage in thoughtful, respectful, and productive conversations.”
