  • Developing Myself as a Better Music Teacher

    Funded Aug 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my classroom. The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation went above and beyond in their donations to my two projects.

The books will help me develop myself to become the best educator I can possibly be. They will help me teach special education students better and more efficiently. The carpet is a needed material that schools don't have the capacity to necessarily buy. Thanks to The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation, this foundational supply will be used for the students.

Thank you again so much for your generosity and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scalzetti

  • Books for Learning Music

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project, especially to the Loft who made the largest donation.

I was able to teach the children how to use these books to help them become more proficient in different instruments. With these books, they could learn at their own pace which is so important for special needs students.

With these resources, my children were able to practice the recorder, violin, and ukulele independently, giving them. more accountability towards their learning. You are very much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scalzetti

  • Music and Technology

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

Learning music isn't easy, but your donation has not only impacted the student's learning, but also the amount of FUN they have in music!

The little ones love making patterns on the step piano. They look like Tom Hanks in Big playing on the big piano mat. They get to recognize colors and use numbers to know where to step. The older kids use it for exercising and playing actual songs by jumping on the keys.

The karaoke machine is by far a favorite. The kids love to sing and shine like a star. They don't even realize they're reading with karaoke... to them it's just fun, but to us teachers, we know it's educational too.

The TonieBox was out, but instead I got a puppet theater and puppets for the kids to practice storytelling. They love it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scalzetti

  • A Musical Education

    Funded Feb 25, 2022

The children are completely enjoying learning music with the Boomwhackers. They ask for them every time they come to music class. As they are sturdy instruments, I've even been using them with some of the younger kids in the school too. I wish you could see the smiles on their faces when I indicate it's 'Boomwhacker Time".

I am so grateful to all who donated to this project and the impact it has had on the children is tremendous. They love learning music and these instruments really allow them to learn in a fun, interactive way.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scalzetti

  • Boomwhackers as Musical Education Tools

    Funded Oct 6, 2023

You cannot make up the big smiles the kids wear when they play music with the Boomwhackers. They love them and are always excited to use them when they come to my room. With many instruments to choose from, the kids are always drawn to the Boomwhackers.

I am so grateful that you helped bring this project to life for my students. Most of the kids come from lower-income families and cannot afford luxuries like musical instruments. School is the only place that they really have access to the different instruments and sounds. These Boomwhackers are critical for them understanding music better, especially since they are Chromatic and connect the note AND solfa tone to the kids.”

  • Celebrating Diversity!

    Funded Apr 5, 2023

Thank you so much for the generous donation of culturally responsive books. My classroom is better equipped now to discuss inclusivity and see themselves in some of the books that they read.

The kids are currently looking through the picture books and reading them independently, after we read it as a class. The higher-level texts that are beyond Kindergarten, have been loaned to teachers in the upper grades where children are often not exposed to books that create mirrors. Those teachers are eternally gratefult o you as well.

Some of my kids are seeking out these books during indendent reading time. They are really enjoying them.”

  • A Colorful World

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thanks to your generous donation, children have a bright, joyful classroom environment where student engagement has increased and the children are happily learning. Colorful posters surround the room (some photos are attached). The children reference these posters throughout the day. I also enclosed a sheet the kindergarteners use where the colors are described and visually helpful. It helps them both in their reading time and especially their writing time. They are not able to write more descriptive words than ever. Thank you again for your kindness and generous gift to our classroom and the children.”

  • Flexible Seating for Curious Minds

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

My students are absolutely loving their flexible seating options. They are focusing so much better on tasks and are just so happy with having choices other than the floor or table. It is such a more open and welcoming classroom for the kids now. They are so excited every reading and writing period to choose which type of seat they want and doing their work. I appreciate you and your donation so much. With a lot of ENL learners in my class and mostly in a lower-income area, the children often do not get comforts like this even at home. They are so happy now.”

Our student population is mostly low-income, but our children are always motivated and eager to learn new things. Last year, because of a generous grant from DonorsChoose, I was able to implement an after school music program for our school. I would like to continue this worthwhile work this year. Please contribute to this project so children can learn the universal language of music. There is no music program in our school other than this after school program. I think every child should have a chance to learn how to read and compose music.
