Like the average four year old, my students love to move! It's developmentally appropriate and expected from them, however, it sometimes causes them to lose focus. There are different types of learners: kids that need to be quiet and still to focus and kids that need to move while they're learning. Wiggle seats are designed for those that need to fidget and move around. It allows them to wobble around while still learning! They are maintaining their focus on their work or speaker, but are able to keep their movement under control as well. These wobble chairs would be a great addition to our classroom! While my students are still doing a lot of active learning, we also have to make time for small groups, to continue that learning. I am taking them away from whatever activity they are moving around and doing and requiring them to focus, however that is a hard transition! This tool would allow for more engagement during our small group time and a better transition to small group learning.
