"Write" Tools for Kindergarten!
Funded Mar 15, 2011I'm so excited to be able to witness the impact your donation has had on the students in my class. They were already eager students but now with the "write" tools, they are eager writers. They have much to say and now feel comfortable to write what they are thinking.
You have given us letter magnets, whiteboards, dictionaries and writing prompt cards. Many of these materials are now in our classroom writing center and being used daily by my students. The students whose skills are still low are progressing by using the magnets to manipulate letter sounds to form words and phrases without the pressure of making a mistake that needs to be erased. The progressing students enjoy using the white boards to write what they like to call "silly sentences" by making up stories using as many words as they can from the dictionaries you gifted us. The more advanced students like to get the writing prompt cards and write paragraphs about animals and other things that interest them.
I knew that the presence of these items in the class would be encouraging and motivating to my students, but I could not know the joy that they would bring. I thank you for your kindness and generosity. I also thank you for supporting education and the future of my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Briscoe
This classroom project was brought to life by In a Perfect World Foundation and one other donor.Feeling Write at Home!!
Funded Nov 13, 2006I'm so excited to learn that you have funded my request for the kindergarten children of 9th Street School. I can't tell you how much this will help encourage my students to practice their writing skills at home and at school. I'm also anticipating taking pictures of them, holding their writing kits, with great big smiles. You'll be able to see what joy your gift has brought to a group of 5 year olds and their teacher. Thank you so much”
With gratitude,
Ms. Briscoe
