  • Amplify the Sound!

    Funded May 29, 2023

We had to make a different choice in our materials as what we originally planned was out of stock. So, we put our funding towards a new strap for the classroom guitar, a capo to make it easier to play, and an automatic tuner that will help make it quicker and easy to tune our ukuleles and guitar. The students will understand what it feels like to be professionals with these nice tools. We haven't started school yet but I know they will love it! Thanks for supporting our classroom this year. We look forward to welcoming you back on to our next project, "Rock on with Learning!"”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B.

  • Charged Up & Ready!

    Funded Dec 3, 2021

The simplest form of technology is the charger to charge up the devices. We cannot use our basic ipads / tablets at school without having enough power to do it. Today we received our chargers and the students were SO PUMPED about opening a box from you.

When they saw their new chargers, the students said, "Man! We needed these so bad! Can I have one in my classroom?" I told them how generous you were to give them what they needed.

What a gracious gift you have given our students. A simple one, but a needed one. Thank you for seeing the basic need of power for technology so that they can be ready to learn each day. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B.

  • Cajon You Move Like Me? (PART 2)

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

I want to thank you again for the generous donation to our classroom. We have begun using the drum with movement in 4th and 5th grade. It was provided as an option to use in our musical compositions last month. The portability of this drum makes it easy for students to use while moving to the music too.

The students were so excited to open the drum and take it for a test drive! They each got a turn creating their own beats with it before using it in our classroom projects. It was a fun time seeing their smiles and joyful movement!

In my classroom, we are moving towards having more experiences with student choice. Drums like these offer different ways to do that. We are beginning to prepare for a performance in the spring and students are excited to use our materials for that. Our performance will include songs and movement created all by the students. We are excited to share with our community! Thank you for being a part of that with us!”

  • Cajon You Move Like Me?

    Funded Apr 8, 2021

My students and I are excited to share that we've been able to add this "CajonTab" drum to our classroom with great fun! I used this drum to demonstrate frog jumping in K-2 classrooms. The drum would play and the students would hop... and when it stops... no more hopping! :) After I demonstrated, many of the students want to use the drum as well so I had several students come to play the instrument as well.

The students were very intrigued by this instrument. It has many different shapes that make up the instrument and so they were able to identify those and see how each part of the instrument was utilized. They really thought the snare on the drum was a cool feature!

We love using this drum in our classroom. But we would love to have another one so that more students can participate. We have added a second project here on Donor's Choose so that we can make that possible for our students. If you are inclined to help us, we would love that too!

Thank you so much for all your generosity and support! Music is life for us and without it we would be lost! Thank you for giving us life!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B.

  • Keep Calm & Om Nom Nom!

    Funded May 6, 2021

Thank you so much for the gift of reading to my classroom. Through the books we will be exploring various cultures and some of their cuisines. We will also be taking a look at various music concepts through these texts-- rhythm, steady beat, melody, and composition.

In music class, reading is a bit different. First, we read to enjoy the story and explore the text with our minds. In the second read, we take some of the text and turn it into music that we use during the reading of the story. Additionally, the students create various movements or musical compositions of their own to demonstrate their knowledge of the text. It becomes a show stopping performance on the final read!

My students have really enjoyed seeing the new cultures from various countries. Especially the books from Zimbabwe, Africa. "The Party Croc" is a crowd favorite because all he wants is a party for him and his friends! The students have loved adding african drums and sounds to this story to make it come alive.

We really appreciate your gift to our classroom! We couldn't have as much fun without it!”

    With gratitude,

  • TPT, Yeah You Know Me!

    Funded Dec 9, 2020

The technology curve has grown significantly in the last year. In fact, my students are more savvy than I am most days. This project has brought new resources for my students that we would not have had before. Most times, I would create these manipulatives for them on my own either on the computer or make them from paper materials for them to use in the classroom. These electronic materials allow each student to interact with the materials on their own and even practice at home when they are learning remotely.

This new product I purchased is called BOOM CARDS. They are digital flash cards and activities that review a concept that we have gone over in class. The most exciting part is that it turns the learning into a game. The audio plays a rhythm pattern and then the students have to decide what the rhythm pattern is using known musical notation. The students get excited when they see their progress and are rewarded with points in the game and are given immediate feedback in the process.

Several of my students have really taken to these new games and have been playing them at home. Then when they come into the school building for their rotation, they are caught up and ready to extend their learning on that particular concept. They see how fun music can be (even without instruments right now) and it brings a smile to their faces. Thank you for this opportunity to see them grow into well rounded musicians! We appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B.

  • DIY Musical Instrument Kits!

    Funded Aug 7, 2020

All the materials that you helped provide were made into small instrument kits for my students. We distributed around 400 kits and students are now learning what each little thing in the kit is for.

When we did our virtual materials pick up day, students could not believe that we would go to such effort to provide them with arts related items. As an arts school, we believe arts plus academics equals success. So when a student exclaimed, "I get my own maraca?!" I was happy to tell her "yes!!! You do and you can keep it forever!"

We will be using these materials to make and create music in the coming weeks of virtual learning. I have a great lesson planned with percussion that will help the students learn all about rhythm.

Thank you for your support! If you are interested in continuing to support us, I have two other projects that our students are excited to see if they get funded!

Stay safe, be kind, and enjoy the music!”

    Ms. B.

  • Music Teacher Goes to School!

    Funded Feb 17, 2020

I wanted to thank you so much for helping to fund my project to provide the Course Fee for my Professional Development this summer. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my classes were postponed until Summer of 2021. I am saddened by this but am looking forward to a magical summer next year!

The most exciting thing about all this is that I get plenty of time to look over the text books and be prepared for my classes next summer. I cannot wait to see how much more growth will happen for myself and my students due to this learning.

You have been so generous to me. Thank you for your support of teachers even in times likes these. You will never know how much it means to us.”

    With gratitude,
