Help Us Organize
Funded Aug 25, 2018Thank you so much for these much needed supplies. They are already making a difference in keeping my students organized. The binders are great and useful in getting students to file their work away. They know exactly where their work is located. When studying for a quiz, they know they can look into their binders for class handouts. We are no longer dealing with papers randomly stuffed into book bags.
The post-its are helping students to take notes on their reading; we also use the post-its during gallery walks where students write their thoughts on post-its and students have conversations based on what their classmates are writing. Additionally, having the plastic sheets help to post student work and protect it when we are showcasing students work around the classroom.
I am looking forward to a very organized year where my students are learning important organizational skills that will benefit them throughout middle school and beyond. Thank you for making this work possible.”

Funded Aug 27, 2018These Chromebooks are truly making a difference. My students are so engaged and excited by what is taking place in the classroom. They are logging into Google Classroom more efficiently, they are collaborating with classmates through shared documents and they are truly taking the time to revise their work; students that would normally not want to continue writing are pushing themselves to write more, and this is truly because they are typing their papers and are excited to be using the computers to peer edit with their classmates.
We have used the computers for small-groups and they love being able to review for quizzes or class content using the different online programs. I have students that want to come up from lunch to use the Chromebooks because they enjoy having access to further research information about their current project. These materials are truly making a difference in how I teach and how my students are learning. Thank you so much for supporting this work.”

Funded Aug 11, 2018Wow! Thank you so much. It is always a reassuring reminder to see just how important it is to give students access to technology. This year thus far, students have been able to research, type, collaborate, and engage with their work in a manner that is truly maximizing their time in the classroom.
These chromebooks, have allowed students to have access technology right at their fingertips in their classroom. It is helping students research the different Greek gods as we continue to delve into our first unit. Students were able to publish their reading and writing autobiographies on Google Classroom. I have had students exclaim that this is the first year in all their years of schooling that they had a chance to type up their work. They are so excited by what so many of us take for granted. Thank you so much for your support that is making this work possible.”

Funded May 17, 2018Thank you so much for the resources. It was a great experience being able to present in front of my colleagues. Having these resources enable me with the confidence to present and know that I am sharing resources that will be useful to both teachers and students.
A highlight of this project is knowing that I am being more thoughtful about how students are approaching reading in the classroom as well knowing that I am thoughtfully using technology to best meet the learning needs of my students. I look forward to further delving into the texts and using best ELL practices for my students.”

Funded Mar 9, 2018Thank you so much for these resources that have given me the opportunity to learn more about my students. We still have some work to do in terms of getting more students to record their stories, but WOW! What we have so far is inspiring. Their honesty, their struggle, and their hopes for the future pushes me to do all that I can for them. My students embody the idea of grit. They understand that there is a lot they need to overcome to achieve their dreams for a better future and their stories reflect that they have what it takes to do so.
Having students record was a novel concept for them, and at first they experienced the awkwardness of hearing their own voices, but after a few takes, they became more comfortable and are eagerly seeking another opportunity to continue to tell their story.
As always, thank you for making this work possible.”

Funded Apr 10, 2018Thank you so much for the materials. The students really enjoy using the Osmo kit, and even teachers are interested in obtaining their own kits for their own children. These kits have created a level of engagement that is so exciting to see.
The money books are a huge hit in the classroom. During independent reading time, it is not surprising to see students head to the bin with the financial books. They love reading about how to save money and what it would mean for them in the long term. Students are speaking about their future in a thoughtful and realistic manner. Theses books are providing a very much needed awareness about money.
Thank you for allowing us to bring these resources to the classroom.”

Let's Destress After the Test
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for these materials. My students are so excited to be able to relax after the test with a creative task. They love seeing the images come together. Students who usually have a hard time focusing are so engaged in creating their images; they are taking their time; they are expressing how much these materials have helped them destress and some are working with partners to complete an image. Even with our tests over, students have come to my classroom after school to ask to create an image at home because it calms them down. Many students have expressed how their parents have taken to hanging their finished pieces on the walls at home.
Thank you for the opportunity to bring these resources to my students who are so thankful for a creative escape.”

Funded Apr 22, 2018Thank you so much for the Chromebooks. Students are going beyond financial literacy even though there is so much work to do on that front. The Chromebooks have been a major necessary tool as students research not just issues related to health, but the cost of poor diets, junk food cost versus healthy eating options, and what it means that more and more of the population is becoming overweight. Due to our current unit of study, which is healthy eating, we are able to use this technology to do research, read articles, write responses, and think about finances not just in terms of money and savings, but how to relates to our health.
Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to expand their thinking with such an awesome and necessary resource that I know is making a difference in how they learn.”

Funded Mar 22, 2018Thank you so much for your generosity, and believing in the work that is being done. The students are excited to have these Chromebooks in the classroom. They have a revived sense of ownership with their work. We are going to move forward and use these Chromebooks to start researching healthier eating options, as this is the current unit of study. These Chromebooks have become a great hit making students more eager for the next opportunity to explore, ask questions about food consumption, and develop agency and advocacy from an early age. This is because of your investment. From all of my students and myself, thank you!”

Funded Jan 25, 2018Thank you so much! My students are so excited by this wealth of zombie resources. They are loving everything zombie. These books are the most borrowed from the classroom library and their appetite for this topic knows no boundaries-my hesitant readers are no more-they love knowing they have a wealth of zombie books to choose from. They love the different coloring books and getting to color the zombies how they imagine them to be. It is so much fun to see how creative they can be. When we have zombie journal writing time, students have been known to use discarded boxes to build a fort to add to the authenticity of their writing as if they were truly experiencing the zombie apocalypse. Thank you so much for your support of allowing me to provide them with zombie giveaways such as the zombie pencils, zombie homies, and zombie badges. They love everything zombie. Thank you for making this fun work possible.”
