  • From First Grade to Fifth Grade Books in the Library.

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

When I told my students that they have new books on the way, they were so excited and immediately started asking when the books would be here. Thank you so much for helping me make their school year a little better with books that they want to read. Their lives are a little more exciting all because of you.”

  • We Survived! - an End of the Gift to Celebrate

    Funded May 6, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to my class for their end of the year gifts. It was a long year, but we survived it. I loved being able to put gifts together with personalized letters for each child to let them know that their hard work wasn't unnoticed and they are stronger for what they did this year. It was also one of the only times that I got to see ALL of my students in person. It was the first time I was able to hug all of them because of the pandemic and now I can finally do that. It brought so much happiness to both me and my students. I see them using the pens every day since getting them, the frog toys have been guests in class, and so many of them are using their water bottles and are so excited that they finally have one. Thank you again so much.”

  • A Completely Virtual School Year? We're Prepared!

    Funded Jan 12, 2021

Today was the first day that we got to use all of the wonderful supplies you helped donate to my class. Kids spent the whole morning talking about how excited they were to use them! We spent all of math being able to practice and write down problems and they got to hold them up the screen where it could be seen. It was also the first time in a long time I didn't hear, "I don't have anything to write with" or "my marker is dried out" and it was music to my ears while also cutting down on instructional time we have been spending trying to problem solve.

Giving out the supplies yesterday (and a little today) was also the first time my students and I have been able to see each other in person all year. Even with our masks on, it was so exciting to be able to see someone in real life and not just behind a computer screen. It was an added bonus to your gracious donations.

Thank you so much for being able to help me supply my students with what they need for the year and the added bonus and morale booster of seeing each other in person for the first, and probably only, time this school year.”

  • "Hot Dot"Ting Our Way Into Being Mathematicians

    Funded Nov 25, 2019

Thank you so much for having donated to this project. My school year was cut short due to the pandemic, but before that I was able to use the Hot Dots almost every day in my class as early finisher work and in small groups. My kids loved doing them and would ask to play them all of the time. They even found ways to make it a competition (which motivated them to want to do well) and it was just starting to take off before the school year ended.

I want to thank you so much for everything. I wouldn't have been able to do that and cultivate that want to learn in my students last year without your help.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bowry

When you enter the upper grades, students start to become more independent and show autonomy in their learning - this is exactly what Hot Dots does! Hot Dots are a resource where students can practice their math skills on their own. Students are given a pen that will let them know if they have the answer correct answer or if they need to try again. I want to teach my students that learning can be done without being told every step of what needs to be done, that you are able to self correct and teach yourself. The independence that will come with these Hot Dots will give my higher level students what they have been craving while I work with the lower level students. They can be an activity to reinforce skills, a confidence booster when they continuously get green while practicing the skill, and a good activity for fast finishers.
