Reading workshop is a central part of our every day learning. During reading workshop, after a mini lesson, readers spread out all over the room and bring their book box with them. Their book box is their own and inside they store all the necessary materials that readers might need- books, sticky notes, pencil, reading notebook, etc. In the first few weeks of school this year, it became apparent to me that the book boxes that I had purchased were not doing my students justice. They're so small that students are not able to fit all the books that they want to read in their bin. In addition, they are unable to balance and readers are disturbed when they fall over. These book bins will help organize our classroom and give kids a sense of ownership. These book bins will be sturdy enough to stay upright and big enough to hold student's books. Students will be able to fill these bins with their just right books and materials without size limitations.
