  • Literature Circle - Novel Study

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting the students in my class. The last few years have been a challenge for them and all of us in the education community. Every day, our staff are working endlessly to support one another and our students and their families with materials students can take home to enrich their education and their futures. While we have ebooks available, many still do not have access to technology even after Covid. These books will allow our students to participate in a novel study and encourage their future interest in literature. Most importantly, the funding of this project will let the students know, that so many people care about their education and want them to succeed. Again, thank you and Donors Choose for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. V

  • Digital Reading and Instruction

    Funded Dec 14, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting the students at my school in a year that has been a challenge for them and all of us in the education community. Every day, both our onsite staff and remote staff are working endlessly to support one another and our students and their families with remote devices and the various platforms we now all need to navigate in our new learning environment. In a room where other devices are being used, these headphones allow students to hear only the instruction or material intended for them. Additionally, they allow our students to focus on their reading materials and classroom instruction without background noise and distractions from other devices either in their classrooms or in their households. Most important, they will let the students know, that so many people care about their education and want them to succeed. Thank you and Donors Choose for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. V

Serving a large special education population requires multiple learning methods, strategies, and supports within a variety of classroom settings. Technology provides educators access to specially designed instruction and allows them to leverage technology during the lesson design process and classroom activities to improve student learning and design authentic, learner-driven activities that recognize and accommodate learner variability. In ELA, students can buddy read, independently read, or work in a small group with a related service provider with the support of an immersive technology reader allowing them to follow along and pause periodically to discuss and answer questions posed for understanding. In math, visual and tactile learners can work independently or in groups using applications in conjunction with materials to formulate an authentic understanding of fractions, money, time, measurement, and number concepts, etc.
