  • Ms. Bay's Culinary Classroom

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

Culinary arts is a fantastic course which allows students to be creative and explore new things throughout the school year. DonorsChoose made it possible for students to earn the most out of the culinary arts introductory course this school year. Students are dependent on their laptops and charging outlets are so helpful! During the cooking methods unit this semester, students were able to explore a new cooking technology, air frying, with the air fryers. Students were able to take easy and inexpensive recipes home to their families. Students take advantage of the new storage shelves and containers almost daily. The classroom has become an inviting and educational space that students truly enjoy!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bay

  • Making the Kitchen Fun!

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

This year has been nothing short of challenging. It seems that every week our lives change as students and as teachers. It is February 2021 and I have only met my culinary arts students when they pick up groceries from me at school in order to do an at home cooking lab. I greatly miss the personal connections from years past and I greatly miss students walking into my classroom every day. We are still conducting this school year remotely. A bright spot of first semester was the day I showed students the newly installed bulletin board, the chef aprons, the laminator, and the many items generously donated for them to use once we come back into the building. Students were shocked that strangers can be so generous and they were the lucky group to receive such amazing items. Sincerely, I want to thank each and every one of you on my students' behalf. They deserve the world and I am grateful that your generosity will help my classroom run safe and smoothly next year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bay

I am eager to return to the classroom to start cooking. For the first time I am teaching freshman so I need my classroom to be less intimidating by adding bulletin boards and color. My students need aprons and hats to stay compliant with safety and sanitation. Students are not allowed to take food out of the kitchen this year and I want them to be able to take photos and display what they are proud of. I also want to encourage more students to take my class by having students make a bulletin board in the hallway that displays their creations.
