Breakfast and Snacks Give Us Energy to Read and Write
Funded Jan 16, 2024Thank you for all of your help! My scholars love the snacks. The snacks have been a big help in the morning and afternoons. Moreover, I find that some scholars are relieved because there are snacks in the classroom when they arrive at school late.
Upon learning that there were snack donations, my scholars were extremely excited to see which snacks they would get to try out and eat. They have even made some suggestions as a next step.
Finally, because of your donations, my scholars had plenty of snacks during the state exam. This helped to alleviate some stress that my students were feeling & to bring some joy on those particular days. As for my next steps, my scholars will be reading a middle school-friendly version of Macbeth & they will be creating dioramas.
Thank you for your kindness.”

Funded Jan 8, 2024Thank you for helping us to purchase our scales & dry erase markers! My scholars were able to use the scales to debate different topics and visually see which arguments were stronger. In my classroom, we use the "Thinking Made Visible" strategy called "Tug of War". The scales help to elevate this strategy to the next level.
When my scholars first saw the scales, they were curious about how they would use them in the classroom & they were excited to see the scales go back and forth. They were also able to put the scales together without any hassle.
As for our next steps in our classroom, we are getting ready to create dioramas & read a middle school-friendly version of Macbeth. Thank you again for your kindness.”

Funded Jan 4, 2024Thank you for helping to bring snacks to my classroom. Because of your kindness, my scholars were able to have snacks and breakfast on the go. The snacks gave my scholars additional energy in the morning & afternoons.
Additionally, because of your kindness, my scholars were able to have a more relaxing experience during the state exam this year. Students were able to snack on Pop-Tarts & cereal to keep them up & alert. The snacks brought joy to many of my scholars who were nervous while testing.
As for my classroom's next steps, we are getting ready to build dioramas & read a middle school-friendly version of Macbeth. Once again, thank you for all of your help.”

The Hunger Games Comes to Ms. Bailey's Classroom!
Funded Dec 30, 2023Thank you so much for gifting my classroom with The Hunger Games! I am elated that I was able to have my scholars read this novel this year! My scholars were able to use this book to discuss ideas on government, choices, and decision-making. Additionally, this book was paired with societal theme readings such as "The Lottery, "The Landlady", & "The Veldt". Because of your donations, my scholars were able to read an engaging book & have different opinions about the choices they make and how the decisions of others influence us.
I believe my scholars enjoyed this unit & are looking forward to watching the movie. The next step for our classroom is for us to read a "middle school" friendly version of Macbeth. Thank you for your help & your time.”

Help Us Learn English
Funded Dec 30, 2023Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. This project was very important to me because I did not want my ENL students to believe that their education did not matter & I wanted them to walk out of my classroom feeling successful. I believe that this goal was accomplished with the purchase of these books. My students, who were struggling to learn English, were able to use this book to practice their English and identify different objects in English. I used this book as part of my scholars' group work time or during our reading time.
My co-teacher & I are already speaking about putting in a new order of books for our scholars next year. Thank you for making this year successful for our ENL students. As we all know, English is not an easy language to learn. Thank you again for all of your kindness & generosity.”

Help Us Read Detective Mystery Books
Funded Dec 7, 2023Thank you for funding my classroom! Each year, I try my best to keep my scholars engaged. This year, I wanted to try my hand with detective mystery books (something I enjoy as a reader myself.). As a teacher, I have to teach skills like context clues, central idea, and making inferences. As an educator, I believe that education should be a memorable experience and should positively change your life.
In my classroom, we read for joy and a purpose. Through reading the detective mystery book, we were able to discuss people and the mood. My scholars were also able to have more of an interactive experience with a text.
In closing, thank you for being kind & thinking of our scholars & us teachers.”

Funded Dec 5, 2023I want to thank you all for having it in your hearts to donate to my classroom. It is not easy running a classroom--especially an engaging one. I try my best to make sure that my students' interests are heard and I especially try to introduce them to new content and different ways of thinking. With the detective mystery books, this was made possible.
What you don't know is that your donation allowed my scholars to read a mystery book before stressful state exams. It also allowed my scholars & myself to have conversations about people's characters. Finally, it allowed my scholars to make inferences.
Thank you again. I am extremely grateful.”

Funded Dec 29, 2023Thank you, one thousand times, for your donations to our library! My scholars were very excited about the new books especially since they got to choose the books that they want to read.
My male students constantly give me updates on where they are at in their reading. This makes me believe that I have a lot of work to do in building my library--especially now that it is a wait list for certain books. Thanks to you, my scholars have newer and more relatable YA books to select from. Also, reading has become a hobby rather than a task for some of them.
As far as my next steps, I plan on creating a new project with new books. I also currently have a project on my page to get diorama materials for my scholars. We are going into our short story unit, and I am asking them to recreate a scene from their favorite short story.”

Team Work Makes Our Dreams Work!
Funded Nov 29, 2023Thank you for all your help with procuring materials for my class. Without your donations, many of the projects that I wanted to do this year would not have been possible.
Because of your donations, my class was able to use post-it notes for their group discussions & they were able to use the multipurpose copy printer paper for their group work. Additionally, we were able to use the Velcro dots to fix up our classroom word wall, and we were also able to use the Velcro dots for our archery targets in our school's lunch room. In addition, I was able to finalize our interactive word wall with the library pockets.
As far as our next project, we are looking to create dioramas for the short stories my scholars are getting ready to read. My scholars will recreate one scene form a mystery (This can also be found on my Donors Choose page.) Once again, thank you so much for all of your help.”

Funded Nov 17, 2023Thank you for donating to our reading campaign. Since receiving your donations, my male students have been more excited to read books-- especially since we received our new Spiderman novel. I now have a waitlist for this book! However, this has inspired me to get more Marvel books in my classroom. Additionally, since receiving the pencil cup holder, I have organized our writing utensils more efficiently.
Moreover, my scholars are just as excited as I am about the penguin bookmarks. The bookmarks are helping scholars to establish reading habits. My scholars are also making reading a hobby (Reading does not always have to be a task.). Furthermore, with our new bookshelf, we can continue to grow our library.”
