• Bring Art and Fun to English!

• Storytelling Through Dioramas

  Thank you for finding it in your heart to donate to my classroom. I am extremely thankful that people like you have helped me to keep a tradition that I have been carrying out in English each year. Thanks to you, my scholars were able to create their own visions of the different texts that we have read. It was not only a core memory for them, but a core memory for me as well.

  Art was brought to ELA, and my scholars could not have been more excited. They loved painting the dioramas and working together. My students were also proud about displaying their work. It was also exciting to see which texts they engaged with the most since they had to choose a text to recreate. Finally, as far as my next steps are concerned, I plan on completing another hands-on project towards the end of the year as well as a video project.”

• A Vending Machine for Good Habits

  Thank you for all your help with procuring the gum ball machine, the TPT gift card, and the graphic organizer book. Because of your generosity, I was able to use my TPT card to purchase interactive Google slides that my scholars were able to work on in groups or independently. These interactive slides allowed my scholars to engage in the work in a different way. My students were able to watch the videos on the slides as well as answer questions on the slides. Some of the slides even included recent TV shows in which they had to analyze the mood and tone.

  The graphic organizer book made it easier to work with scholars who had difficulty with writing. It allowed me to help organize their thoughts and help them practice short response writing each week. The gumball machine was a blast from the past, and it was pretty cool watching the amazement in my scholars' faces at seeing the machine. I packed the machine up with fidget spinners because I know some of my scholars have challenges with focusing, and the spinners also help manage anxiety.

  All in all, the TPT gift card has been the ultimate gift. It has allowed me to purchase engaging materials that my scholars are excited about. As a teacher, I'm critical about reading passages on tests and how dull they sometimes can be. Now, I get to purchase reading passages about "Big Foot" and "Pokémon". This is unheard of! I was a bit surprised when one of my scholars came back and complimented me on the test. Additionally, the TPT resources have been "student friendly"; the font is appeasing to my scholars, and the materials help to differentiate the different activities for my unit. Thank you again.”

• Dioramas for Our Art Showcase

  Thank you again for your donations. Without you, our students would not have been able to complete their dioramas. Each year, I try my best to make learning transformative and to create core memories. It is also important to me that my scholars don't see ELA as just a subject that they must complete, but as a subject that can be rewarding and completed in several ways other than reading and writing.

  The dioramas allowed my scholars to recreate settings and be creative. They visibly showed my scholars' thinking and I know they enjoyed themselves while completing this project. It immensely means so much to me that you guys took the time to donate to my scholars. Thank you so much for your big heart and just caring about my scholars' education.”

• Help Us Learn English

  Thank you so much for all your help with obtaining our books. The book Learning English with Cartoons has helped my scholars and my classroom in so many ways. First, my scholars feel successful with completing each chapter of the book, and they are also engaged during class time.

  It is not easy to learn English or a new language, so I appreciate the fact that this book allows my scholars to learn English and process their thoughts. In my classroom, my scholars work together to figure out the meaning of the words and to finish the sentences starters. • Writers in Need of Journals

  Thank you so much for taking the time out to donate to our classroom. Because of your donation, my scholars have notebooks and a place to take their notes. Notebooks are a big part of our classroom routine and have helped me as a teacher to establish norms.

  Aside from taking notes, my scholars use their notebooks to jot down vocabulary in the vocabulary section of their journal and they also use their books to answer short response questions. Additionally, my scholars start our class by answering the "Do Now" question in their notebooks, and they end our class by answering an exit question. Thank you again for all your generosity.”

• Future Writers Need Notebooks

  Thank you so much for all of your support. The classroom notebooks that you helped to provide are a big staple in our classroom. Our scholars use them each day to take notes & write their on-demand responses. Additionally, our scholars use the back section of their notebooks to write down any new vocabulary.

  The notebooks provided my classroom with structure that was necessary. Our students love the themes & each day we start out with our scholars grabbing their notebooks and completing the "Do Now" and ending the day by completing an exit slip. Thank you again for your generosity.”
