Kindergarten Is Cooking Up Some Social Skills!
Funded Mar 2, 2020My students love the new hands on materials for kitchen dramatic play time. They really enjoy having new items to explore.
Students use kitchen time to learn about many things. First they can learn social lessons like taking turns and sharing with their classmates. They also use the materials for a writing lesson. Students make a grocery list using items from the kitchen play center.
My kindergarten students have enjoyed these materials because they can pretend and learn. Thank you for your donations.”

Funded Sep 23, 2019Our classroom is in a small, rural town. Kindergarten classes have not received science materials in the seven years I have been a teacher here. Materials were outdated and in poor condition. My students were so excited to use the K'nex blocks and pieces. We spent several days exploring with the pieces so they could learn how to use them and how to take good care of them. During this time, it was absolutely quiet in our classroom. In a class of 31 kindergarten students this does not happen very often. They were 100% engaged and interested in the content. This made me so happy!
When we started to use them to learn about force and motion, the students loved it!! It was amazing to hear them make connections to the real world as they were learning in the classroom. I heard several students talk about using the ramps at the grocery store. We read with older students once a week, and even these students enjoyed using the K'nex to make ramps and bridges. The kindergarteners loved telling the big kids everything they learned.
The next step with this project is to finish the unit. Then, I will challenge the groups to make a different ramp or bridge on their own. They will write several sentences explaining what they built and why they built it this way. My class has enjoyed being scientists, and I have loved watching their confidence and skills grow!”

Funded Oct 16, 2018This project has helped my kindergarten students very much. We use the dry erase boards almost daily to practice skills like writing our letters and numbers properly, writing our name, and spelling words. The ones we had before were old and didn't erase well. The students were very excited to get clean and new boards! The smiles on their faces were priceless!!
The reading center activities have made an amazing difference in the lives of my students. I use the ABC Learning Locks, Touch and Read Words, and Add a Sound sets almost daily with my small groups. They've been able to feel success with these activities, and it's given them confidence to read words in books. These materials helped my students learn to read!! That's so exciting!!
We love using the magnetic letters to spell words. We are learning about long vowels, and these letters have helped me to quickly assess my students to see who is understanding this new concept and who still needs additional help.
I appreciate these materials because they've helped my precious students learn. My students really enjoy using everything from this project.”

Can You Hear Me Now?
Funded Oct 2, 2018My students love the materials that your generous donation brought to our classroom. The wobble stools are such a help to the students who have trouble sitting still and staying focused. We move the stools to different students from day to day and they love to see who gets to use them each day. I feel that by giving students seating options they are more relaxed and can stay more on task.
They also love the new headphones. It's very convenient to have headphones for each iPad that we have in our classroom. They have learned to take care of them responsibly.
We also are enjoying the tossable microphone ball. The kids' reactions to it was the best!! They were very surprised to see that it was a microphone. They enjoy using it during class discussions.
Thank you again for your generosity. We appreciate you.”

Mrs. Ambrose
