Connecting Culture and Music
Funded Jul 12, 2022We are so grateful for your donation. This speaker has afforded us the opportunity to host events in our cafeteria/auditorium, including but not limited to, ceremonies, performances, and dances. Prior to this, the school did not have a speaker, so we were limited in our capacity and often had to borrow a speaker and microphone from other schools or employees. Thanks to your generosity, we now have a speaker that can be used at school-wide events both inside and outside. The students have been excited and the staff is thrilled at all of the opportunities. We are truly appreciative!”

Funded Aug 8, 2020I sincerely thank you for your support and for providing me the opportunity to have a device that I can use both at home and at school. Not only have I been able to use this computer during my time working from home, but I have learned how to use a plethora of resources that can be developed and refined even when I am not at work. During these COVID times, my desktop at home took quite the beating and did not have the memory to support various programs, as well as Zoom. When I received this Windows notebook, I was finally able to take advantage of programs that were previously only available at work.
As evidenced in the photos, the laptop allows me to work on the go and provide data at meetings with teachers, as well as with my fellow leadership team members. I am not tethered to the desktop provided to me at school and I can work from anywhere that has WIFI. In addition to data analysis, I can use interactive engagement websites and tools through Zoom, that I was unable to do with my home desktop. The touch screen feature allows me to edit and design documents and activities to share with my teachers, as an instructional coach, and provide support to students in the classroom. With new social distancing measures, I work with students through my laptop and in Zoom, while still being a presence in the classroom (and not having to stay in my office). Thank you, once again, for allowing me to excel at my job and be able to work more flexibly. You have made this difficult time much more manageable!”

Funded Jul 5, 2018Words cannot express how grateful I am for your help! Thank you for considering us in your work towards implementing change in schools. Originally, I had laptops on here, but I switched to a school that has provided several upper grade classes with laptops, therefore, I changed it to more pressing needs: document cameras, printing ink, and tablets.
The document cameras allow me to project work on the board so that the students can see me annotating and taking notes in real time, which is essential as a Reading and Writing teacher. I still have an old SMARTboard in my room and it does not allow me to annotate on documents or PDF's, so I use the document camera in this capacity.
Furthermore, the tablets serve as a reward for students to read online books when they are done with their assignments. They are small and student-friendly, requiring much less time to set up than the laptops. The students love using them because they are more familiar to them and they can sit around the room comfortably. The printing ink allows me to print out all necessary materials for my students to then make copies, using one of the printers that was provided by the school.
Thank you again for your generosity, we appreciate it!”

Funded Jan 5, 2018We cannot express enough our gratitude for your donation. Our students are so grateful and have already benefited a great deal from these items. As I said on our project page, many of our students cannot afford to be a part of some of the sports leagues in our area, and many times, have to travel far to be able to participate. With these materials, we were able to improve upon our after school sports programs. Students of all ages have participated and learned a great deal from basketball and baseball including, but not limited to, sportsmanship, mechanics, and endurance. It has provided students a new opportunity to engage in exercise and team building. In addition, the tents have provided relief from the hot Florida sun. For our Field Days in March, we will have plenty of shade for students to rest in between the various events we have planned. Thank you all for your support and for allowing us to help our students outside of just academics.”

Meaningful Materials for Mastering STEM
Funded Oct 23, 2017Thank you so much for your support! We are truly grateful. As soon as we received the materials, we began using them. 4th and 5th grade classes throughout the school are able to use the materials donated. We have a Science Lab teacher and a Science coach who have helped us figure out how and when to use the materials to help our students thrive in Science. We have realized that our students can apply their knowledge in Science by completing a variety of hands-on experiments. With these new materials, we are finally able to complete the many activities we have found to enrich or reteach our students (depending on what they need). With science kits, thermometers, microscopes, hand lens, etc. our Science labs have become much more engaging, and interesting for our students. Thank you for providing us the opportunity to teach our students in a way that makes Science fun again!”

Captivating Computers For Comprehension!
Funded Dec 20, 2016Thank you so much for your support. It is greatly appreciated! Because of the computers we now have available daily, the students are able to complete their online homework in class. Many of the students in our zone either do not have wifi, or do not have computers at home. It is difficult for their parents to take them to the library during the week and they end up falling behind on their I-Ready. It is also difficult for parents that do not speak English to help their students with some of the homework that is sent home. We rely heavily on the I-Ready homework to help students because it can be completed entirely independently.
I-Ready is what Miami-Dade county, as well as other counties around the state, use to track student progress in Math and Reading. It is an excellent online tool with lessons, tutorials, activities, and games that review all the standards in each of the subjects. It uses much of the same language as the state assessment (FSA) and provides quizzes throughout to ensure students are understanding the lessons. It is research-based and proven to help students become proficient and make gains in Math and Reading. As a new fifth grade teacher and former third grade teacher, I see the impact it makes. I love hearing students say "I saw that on I-Ready" or "It makes sense hearing it from the Math book and I-Ready." Without the laptops, I would not be able to provide the support my students need to be successful.”

Owl-Standing in First Grade!
Funded Jul 24, 2013My project has been very helpful for my students. The materials are enabling my students to work at their different levels, while not feeling as if their activities are too different from that of their peers. The materials you donated have helped me differentiate my instruction so that I can help those who need the extra help or challenge those that are above level. Math has become more interactive and I now have the materials I need to do stations during Math AND Reading. My students love them and feel like they are getting the extra practice they need to be successful in the classroom. They also do not see it as extra work, since a lot of it includes fun games that they can play with their station partner or friends.
I am also lucky because I tutor Title 1 students at my school and some of these materials can be used with them as well. (These are students in 3rd grade that required extra assistance to prepare them for the FCAT.) They also commented on how fun and helpful the resources were. It is important that these materials benefit even more students, especially at such different grade levels because it shows that no matter what grade I teach K-2, students can definitely benefit from the wide range of materials.
My classroom students felt so special that they had materials donated for them and were so appreciative. They kept saying that they wish they had materials like this in kindergarten. They are all developing a passion for reading and gaining the confidence they need to be successful, lifelong readers. We are all so very appreciative of these materials and I look forward to using them for many years to come.”

Captivating Students Through Creativity!
Funded Apr 23, 2013Thank you so much! These materials worked beautifully for my classroom at the end of the year, and I am truly excited to see the impact it makes on my new students. I have actually been changed from 2nd grade to 1st grade, so I know that the materials will be used even MORE for fun crafts and activities. My students worked together using the cooperative learning games and practiced effective communication with each other in order to meet a common goal. They even helped me organize a great deal of the materials in order to make them more accessible to all the students. They were thrilled to see the variety of the materials, particularly the multicultural paper and markers, which will help them more effectively express themselves in their artwork. We are all truly thankful for these donations and I look forward to having my new students use them =).”
