I teach the self contained special education class, or the community based class, at our middle school. I have students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. My job is to teach my students functional daily living skills to help them be as independent as they can be. My classroom is made up of children from different age groups, with different backgrounds, and with a number different severe disabilities. We work on personal hygiene, cooking, counting money, laundry, social skills, etc.
