Becoming 21st Century Students
Funded Jan 6, 2018I am overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude that such a steep project was fully funded in quite a short amount of time! It is because of you that hundreds of students to come will be able to explore our advanced world and become technologically fluent. Many of my students do not have access to such luxuries in their personal lives and are so grateful that there are people out there who support and care for their learning growth!
With these new Chromebooks, coupled with refurbished laptops I received earlier in the school year year, we officially have a 1:1 technology to student ratio in our classroom! My class has integrated our Chromebooks into our reading and math rotations, as well as the writing, social studies, and science blocks. My kiddos are able to use Moby Max as a school-wide reading and math intervention, research and write essays, practice their typing skills, and more! Besides the Chromebooks (obviously their favorite part), we love our laptop charging cart (no more tangled cords on the ground!), brand new projector, spiffy laptop/projector cart (some kiddos helped me build it!), and document camera. The document camera has already changed our instruction immensely. I am finally able to show students a close up of my annotations, sample student work, display workbooks, and more. This has saved me a lot of time writing on the whiteboard!
I am so humbled to know that so many family members, friends, and Philadelphia neighbors are supporting me in my career and love for teaching and helping others! My students loved hearing that people they have never met cared about their learning and academic growth. You are truly making a difference in the lives of our future generation.”

Using Technology to Build Literacy!
Funded Feb 25, 2016I am overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude that my first ever project was fully funded within two days! It is because of you that hundreds of students to come will be able to explore new books and become technologically fluent in our advanced world. Many of my students do not have access to such luxuries in their personal lives and are so grateful that there are people out there who support and care for their learning growth!
My class has integrated our tablets into our reading rotations to be used during independent reading/work. "Julia Jones My Worst Day Ever!" is certainly a favorite amongst my girls and the boys cannot stop talking about "Ninja Kid: The Secret Life of a Ninja: First Day of School." As for the apps, "Monkey Word School Adventure" is certainly a class favorite and has my students even talking about it at recess. I love that the Kindle Fires have great parental controls and I can only allow my students to play games after they read for a certain amount of time. My students with special needs have taken a strong liking towards the tablets and enjoy being able to learn their sight words and phonics in a new and engaging format.
I am so humbled to know that so many family members and friends are supporting me in my career and love for teaching and helping others! My students loved hearing that people they have never met or heard of cared about their learning and reading growth. You are truly making a difference in the lives of our future generation.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Salter
