Thank you all who have taken an interest in our future. Research repeatedly has shown that language development is crucial to all children’s academic progress during their elementary school years. More so, students are more willing to try and learn new skills through play. Not to mention all the rich discussions that happen between students all day long. That is why investing in our youngest elementary students is investing in our future. Again, Thank you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Valhalla Foundation and 4 other donors.

Our school is located South of downtown Los Angeles. Most of the students are Hispanic or African American. They are energetic, with a vast variety of abilities. Many of the students have been exposed to harsh environmental factors such as gangs, poverty, and family instability. Many of the student attend after school programs, because either or both parents work, they are from a single parent household, or parents work more than one job. I am happy to say that our school embraces all our students, and we are committed to teach, despite our student’s diversities. One thing I do know about my students is that when we do meaningful Project Based Learning, school becomes so much more important to them.
