  • It Is All Fun and Games for My Students!

    Funded Jul 8, 2023

I just received my Donor's Choose package full of amazing games for my students. When the package arrived, I was able to open it with my students! Their eyes lit up when seeing all the different games. They were over the top excited! They begged me to begin playing!

So far, students have played UNO and tried some of the social-emotional games. They were happy and talking with their peers. It is amazing to see how engaged they are when competition is involved. Students that are normally quiet, started opening up!

I am going to try and start a game club before/after school. I want my students to have more opportunities to develop their social skills and to build strong friendships.

Thank you again for donating to my classroom! I am so lucky to have these new resources to use with my students. They are a gift to us all!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Markov

  • Digital Learning for Excited Scholars!

    Funded Oct 2, 2022

Since receiving my gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers, I have been able to purchase many digital resources for my students. For example, I purchased a choice-board template to use with the novel, Inside Out and Back Again. Students use the choice-board to pick and respond to a question of their choice and submit the answer through Google Classroom. Students love being able to have a choice when participating in classwork and this template package was the perfect addition to our digital classroom.

Another item that I purchased through Teachers Pay Teachers was "Cooperative Learning Roles" to be used when doing group work. This item has been such an asset to our classroom because it defines each student's role when working in groups. By reviewing their roles and referring to them throughout group activities, students have been more accountable during class time.

I want to thank each and every person for donating to my classroom. These gift cards are so important because they allow me to do so much more with my students. Teachers Pay Teachers allows me to be creative as a teacher while supporting my students' individual needs. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

    Mrs. Markov

  • Curious Scholars Seek Current Events

    Funded Jul 26, 2021

I want to let you know that your support of my classroom has had a tremendous impact on my students. The subscription to Junior Scholastic has played a pivotal role in delivering current events to my students in a way that they understand. My students look forward to the new monthly magazines and will constantly ask, "When is the next magazine coming?". Students will flip through the pages to an article that catches their attention and become engrossed in the content.

We learned about 9/11 through the September issue. Then, we went to our digital classroom subscription and viewed videos that helped students to make connections to that most infamous day. Students look forward to reading these magazines when they complete their work or when a free moment provides an opportunity to read. I want to thank you again for your continued support of my students and my classroom. We are so lucky!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Markov

  • Remote Resources for Remote Learners!

    Funded May 24, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. I have been able to use my TeachersPayTeachers gift cards to buy resources for my classes. I have purchased reading comprehensions on the Vietnam War to provide my lower leveled readers access to such a complex topic. These supplements have helped tremendously when I was teaching about the Vietnam War. Furthermore, I purchased a digital novel study to break down the novel, Inside Out and Back Again. This product provided students with preloaded vocabulary and chapter summaries to help them to understand the historical novel.

Lastly, I was able to purchase American History clipart to enhance my Google Slides presentations. Kids love the colorful pictures that connect to the Civil War and always make comments about them! These items have definitely enhanced my teaching which allows for a better learning environment for my students. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! We are all so grateful!”

  • Print, Print, Print Perfection!

    Funded Nov 19, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom! The ink has such a positive impact on my classroom and my students. My students are able to print what they need, whenever they want. Before, there was a limit to what they could print. Not only that, but color printing was not even an option.

Currently, my students are printing colored timelines for their social studies projects. Having colored ink allows for a more eye-catching and exciting final product. Students feel special when compared to other classes because they have a better looking project! Thank you so much for your support and donation to my classroom! It really means a lot to be supported by people like you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Markov

  • Printing, Projecting & Paving The Way Towards A Brighter Future!

    Funded Oct 15, 2016

Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom! Instead of writing with chalk or marker, I have a projector that displays a digital version of my lesson on the board. My students are now able to watch history videos and view websites to help them understand the ancient world! Recently, I had my students play a sorting activity on geography using Smartboard technology and they loved it! They got so caught up in the game that you could hear them shouting from the hallways!

The colored printer is so essential for my students. It makes an ordinary worksheet come to life with just a sparkle of color. My students are so proud of their notebooks and portfolios because they are vibrant and glowing with color!

None of this would be possible if it weren't for people like you who continue to support children in need. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. These donations will continue to be used for years to come. Again, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Markov

  • Ancient Explorers Take On the Common Core!

    Funded Dec 9, 2013

My students were so excited to use the resources donated through your thoughtful contributions on Donor's Choose! They were thrilled to hear that our project was funded. They couldn't wait until the packages arrived! Once we had the resources, we wasted no time setting up our writing center! These resources made my students feel special.

Once our resources arrived, we put our new tools to use. I assigned a Document Based Question essay that required students to write multiple drafts and peer edit. Students used the Flip-to-Learn guide and red pencils to peer edit. They used the colorful loose leaf as draft paper and the highlighters to highlight their sources in their papers. Students really enjoyed using the resources to write their essays. They felt important peer editing with red pencils and reference guides. These resources gave my students the confidence they need to write.

Writing is difficult for my students because they are reading significantly below grade level and they are English Language Learners (ELLs). These resources allowed each student to become an activate participant in the classroom. They felt empowered when they took on the role of the teacher during peer editing. Students were eager to go up to the writing center and choose their paper and supplies. Writing is no longer a daunting task in my classroom. Writing is now an exciting journey we take together! I am truly grateful for your contributions to my classroom. You have changed lives by donating to us! Thank you so much!”

    Mrs. Markov

  • Oh, The Places You'll Go With A Helping Hand!

    Funded Sep 5, 2013

My students were so excited to receive the resources through Donor's Choose! These resources have definitely improved the delivery of instruction in my classroom. Lessons are more hands-on than ever before!

For the geography unit, we used the "Reusable Write & Wipe Pockets" to label lines of latitude and longitude on a globe. Students used the colorful Expo Dry Erase Markers to color code the different lines. Students really enjoyed this activity and asked when they would be using the pockets again!

Furthermore, I used the "U.S. States & Regions Resource Box" to help me teach the Five Themes of Geography. Students used the resources to compare and contrast different regions within the United States. Students were able to identify natural resources and historical landmarks from the various regions by using the non-fiction reading passages that were provided.

My students require a hands-on approach to learning. The resources that I received through Donor's Choose allowed for a multi-sensory approach to learning. My students were involved in the lessons and enjoyed the activities. I will use these resources for many years to come! Thank you so much for your incredible donation! You have made a difference in the lives of my students!”

  • Miracle Workers for America's Future

    Funded Dec 11, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom! My students and I were so excited to receive the packages! So far, we completed a class project on ancient Egypt using the clay pyramids. Students became archaeologists and excavated ancient artifacts buried in the clay pyramids. They absolutely loved this activity! It was hands-on and sparked their curiosity. They couldn't wait to figure out what their artifact meant to the ancient Egyptians! Additionally, we used the "Ancient Egypt Social Studies Cards" as a show and tell activity. Students were randomly given a card from the pack and were asked to share out what the image was and why it was important to ancient Egyptians. This was a nice way to end our Egypt unit!

To introduce the Africa unit, students used the inflatable globes to locate important physical features that impacted early settlements. Students loved the globe activity because it was interactive and hands-on. I plan to use all these materials through out the school year. Finally, I have been using the colored paper to liven up my worksheets and projects!

The best part about receiving all these wonderful gifts is that I can reuse them year after year. I have had such a nice experience incorporating these resources into my lessons. I truly feel that my students are benefiting from these educational tools and are better off because of your donations. Thank you again for your donations and for helping to improve the lives of children!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Markov

  • Energetic Scholars in Need of School Supplies!

    Funded Aug 31, 2012

As a Title I public school, we are limited in funding and unfortunately have few, if any, classroom supplies and materials. Your donation has eliminated some of the financial burden for my students and their families. I want to thank everyone that donated supplies to my classroom. We were so excited to receive the packages and start using the supplies!

As a social studies teacher in a self-contained setting, I know how important it is to make history come to life for my students. "Creativity is the ability to invent or make something new, using one's own skills without the specific use of patterns or models."- Linda Mitchell, Young Children. Historical material can sometimes be dry and/ or difficult for children to relate to. As a result, I encourage children to apply their social studies knowledge into visual artwork. With your supplies, I had students create a NYC stamps based on the five themes of geography. Students used the scissors, colored pencils, and markers to make their stamps visually appealing. Students enjoyed the stamp activity because the supplies made their artwork pop! I believe that creative expression develops when a child is able to participate in classroom activities that are hands-on and visually stimulating.

You have positively impacted my classroom and the lives of my students. I can now plan lessons that encourage creative expression through the use of the supplies I received through your generous donations! I am eternally grateful for your donations! Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Markov

My school is a Title I school which means we have a high number of children that come from low-income housing. Unfortunately, our children are at an academic disadvantage because often times they come from single-parent homes or homes where there is little academic supervision due to the need to support a family. Many students are unable to purchase school supplies due to family circumstances. This means that school materials are limited or not readily available to my students.
